Many of these predate their Scriptural form and vary in many important details. The Gilgamesh flood epic sounds much like Noah’s flood. Babylonian artifacts match description of Cherubim and Seraphim found in the biblical texts. This should not surprise us. The Word originated from YHVH, divinity itself, as an inexpressible. To reach the human intellect, it needed to take a form adapted to our understanding. Under the Lord’s guidance, spiritually perceptive story tellers folded spiritual messages into longstanding legends."[/i]

Strange that the stories from different regions are not like the bibles though isn't!

It's almost as though they were just copying each other and not receiving "revelation".

Because of this life threatened issue that they have, they make it their priority to cling to this idea of god/s and the religions they create around said idea to give them hope, hope of a happy ever after, never ending life.

Most deists don't believe in an afterlife.

Personally, I have no trouble just saying "I don't know" with regards to what death is.

Or is this "revelation" the fact that they could read?

Sometimes I think... "maybe, just maybe this whole religious shit about worshipping a book could be seen as nothing more than a bunch of frustrated, illiterate, librarians" Just a thought Smile

When religion becomes a part of, or even becomes one's identity, it is very hard and almost impossible to get rid of. There are different reasons for people's beliefs whether it is that of ghosts, spirits, gods, demons and so on makes no real difference, they can't really all be reduced down to a single argument as to why some people adopts these beliefs.

Attempting to take away something that is a major part of someone's life is seriously threatening. For this reason they will cling on to their beliefs as it often is their life.

God's that we as humans have made assumptions on will most likely not exist.

Our experience after death is the same type of experience as the time before we were born (lacking the components to compose thoughts and consciousness). This is what I see as the most likely even though it perhaps isn't correct but at least I even though at that time it isn't wasn't "I" have experienced death as time before birth is the same type of condition as when we are dead and have lost the components to create thoughts and experience consciousness.
