A grand idea I'll wait until people have developed a few more new terms though. ^_^

I personally think that philosophy and theism are just like oil and water, they don't mix.I feel the same way about reason and faith two entirely different and incompatible concepts. My gripe with philosophy is that it leads to alot of useless speculation on the existence of God and circular so called reasoning on unreasonable subject matter.

I agree, I have a love-hate relationship with philosophy. I think it's interesting and it's great to think about things that are possible, but some people can stick their head to far up their ass with philosophy that it gets annoying. A healthy dose of reality is always needed.

Philosophy is the only justification we have for reality. Without it... one cannot justify that we exist at all... one cannot justify 'right' or 'wrong'. Without philosophy: reality is an assertion. How is this supposed 'reality' any different from blind faith?
How is speculation ever useless? It can be very informative, and leads to something called "Progress". A great deal of our inventions, innovations, and ideas come from speculating "That wouldn't work... Why wouldn't that work?" Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam

At it's core philosophy is indeed just like that. The speculation is much needed. On the other hand, many many people go beyond the core with a load of bullshit assertions that really could do with some much needed empirical support, some evidence, etc. I say, like most things that can be great - 90% or more of it is bullshit...
... on that matter I quote from Bruce Lee : "Use only that which works, and take it from any place you can find it." Anyway, what there is that's good in it, is certainly worth it IMO. I love practising philosophy at its core. Or IOW I love speculating or... 'philosophizing' in general. EvF
Indeed... no disagreements from me
And wouldn't you know... even much undercooked: pizza is still awesome. Just say "no" to the extra layer of PAM on top of the corn meal Now that I've tried it: your don't have to. No, really: don't do it Pizza is awesome... but it is just that much more awesome cooked perfectly ^_^ And pizza and philosophy and philanthropy all start with P... so maybe the letter is enchanted to be awesome Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam
