Ex-Muslim
I'm coming on to 19 years old soon and Atheist.

I was brought up in a Muslim family, taught Islam, how to read the Quran, participated in all the rituals, ceremonies, prayers and celebrations as well as attending the mosque.
In my younger years, I believed without a doubt that god existed and that Islam was THE way, but as I got older I started to question things, as everyone should, and was told to just "have faith" and to not question gods intentions, because as a human, I am too primitive to understand gods mind and way of thinking.
Of course this wasn't enough of an answer for me and I was always left unsatisfied. I wanted to know why Islam was THE way and not any other way. I used to think that those who were brought up Christians were unlucky because they are being raised for the devil. I soon realised that pretty much every religion says that about any other religion, that their religion is the true one and others are false. If you heard differently then you just got the watered down version of your religion.

So I thought, what makes my religion the TRUE religion? Then I came to the conclusion that there was nothing to make Islam the true religion over others. Over time I distanced myself from Islam and just believed in god but not really part of the religion, I would still take part in all the rituals for family sake.

Religious people usually say: "God must exist, where did the earth come from? God must have created earth." but in all honesty, that's exactly like saying, "Where does God come from? What came before him? He could have just not existed entirely, there is no need for god to exist in the first place. What created God?"
There is absolutely no reason for god to exist, there is no evidence to back it up, why believe in a god but not in fairies? There is about the same amount of evidence to back each one up.....which is pretty much nothing.

Therefore, I do not believe in god, I do not believe in paradise, heaven or hell, I do not believe in the 72 virgin reward which is absolutely disgusting. I do not agree with women being forced to wear curtains. I do not agree with harsh punishments to completely trivial so-called "crimes". Yes, I have committed apostasy of the highest order which is punishable by death. Not a single bit of my body accepts the existence of god. It's just a dangerous childhood story to me now.

There is a lot more to how I gave up faith, but it is too much to write for now.

I hope more people realise that gods and deities don't exist, find strength from somewhere real and legitimate if you need it. And I have to say, you DO NOT need religion to have morals, if we suddenly found the most compelling evidence god did not exist, would you start killing people? Of course the answer is no......

Yes I have. My dad is accepting of my decision, my mother....not so much.

Not all my friends are Muslim, so the non Muslims were fine, but my Muslim "friends" see me as the devil.

These Muslim "friends" now avoid me and do not speak to me, I have pretty much cut off contact with them now.

Congradulations, but be carefull not to leave one religion, just to take up another ! All religion's are just belief system's based on the self-righteous opinions of men. James 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain. / in other words if anyone portray's themself to be "religious" , it is better they keep their opinion to themselfs, as their own vanity will deceived them.

I totally agree, I will never take up religion because I do not believe in god, which is pretty much a requirement in most religions. I also do not accept what these religions say, such as the mistreatment of women in Islam, and the keeping of black slaves in Christianity.

I will also not ever believe in a god because it goes against all forms of logic and rationality. But if you're really desperate to live outside reality, logic and rationality, I suggest taking up marijuana.

Every religion has reincarnation aspect. All religions are like different universities. There is no real one, they just have diffierent difficulty levels. All roads lead to a God and those roads are religions.
For example in Christianity you can eat meat, drink, satisfy lust freely and many other things. In Hindu "schools" your forbidden to play in casino, bid, intoxication, eat meat, satisfy lust freely(minimize).
Every human is soul that has body/tool at its disposal, religion is just a path that leads to a certain result, heaven.
Atheism strives for a enjoyable, tasty journey on earth after there is nothing.

hmmm...I disagree, Atheism is not about saying "Fuck it, I want to live an enjoyable life free of restrictions"

Its just like not believing in unicorns or fairies. I do not believe fairies exist in the same way I do not believe god exists. Religion to me is a waste of time, you spend countless hours praying and abiding to senseless rules, for example not eating pork or not drinking alcohol, for no reason. If god really cares about us as people why does he care if I eat pork or drink alcohol? so long as I don't harm others.

I also do not believe that people have a soul.
I also believe humans are animals, living alongside other animals. We are just like the other primitive animals as well anyway, we kill each other, we fight over territory, etc.

The so called "soul" is just someones individual unique personality, which is based on their life experiences as well as internal and other external influences. There is no evidence for a soul existing, and these souls certainly do not go to a heaven or hell

How dead matter can spontaneously,by itself give life to consciousness?
For example there is AI in robots. Sure we can create robot but AI is the biggest problem. So first, proper AI then body. Creator, human made robots to that robots would work perfectly and don't ask for salary.
Source>made copy of himself. God>humans. Humans>robots.
God made original AI and its called soul, consciousness, personality. Soul is atomic part of Gods own consciousness, its just individual part.
