Men and Women equal? No, never.

Especially older women. (And that terrifying woman from that."cooch-cooch-cooch!" Kitten video) Lol

It's true that the fastest men are faster than the fastest women, but if you picked one man and one woman off the street at random and raced them, either one of them could win.

You can get testosterone injections, and find yourself roughly identical to a cisgendered man. The only major physical difference between male and female humans is their hormones... genitals may be part of that, but the hormones themselves are the crux of the difference. Their bodies are not equal by nature, consider: why do transpeople want the bodies expected of their gender? Smile

No, while the fastest men are faster than the fastest women... it is also that men are faster on average than women are on average. And stronger on average. Have less endurance on average, possibly... would have to reinvestigate.

Semantics in general. Some of us have an obsession with seeing the argument constructed correctly before we begin the argument proper.

Well... one of us.

I could give yall a wonderful lecture on identity. But I don't figure more than a handful of people (who probably already get it) to care enough to read it.

Reasonable minds assume? Thinking That... would explain how people are justifying their arguments by saying 'any reasonable person (mind) would agree': to reason is to justify, to make an assumption of right(eous)ness, to apply a belief-NAY... a certainty of correctness.

Better to be unreasonable, surely.

Sure, if they're both runners, the man is likely to win because male bodies are typically better for running.

If we race random people with equal participation between the sexes, and record the data between a great number of these sets... we will find that one set will win <however marginally or massively> the race <likelihood> more than the other set.

(May 21, 2013 at 1:46 pm)NoraBrimstone Wrote: Because either could win. There's a world of difference beween 50-50 and 100-0.
And in what huge leap of "logic" converts that to women not being equal to men? So I shouldn't be allowed to vote or get whatever job I qualify for because a man can outrun me? Fuck you. What do you do, anyway? Stack shelves in Aldi?

More likely 45-55... wouldn't it be great to find this data? Smile

Oh... logic doesn't have shit to do with whether you will or will not be hired for <irrelevant arbitration>. Relevant arbitrations on the other hand, such as experience with women as employees, a concern for significant periods of paid leave, and a social expectation of women, on the other hand... how is an employer to argue that which hasn't conformed to his experience?

Why would logic be of concern to any employer... ever?

(May 21, 2013 at 1:31 pm)NoraBrimstone Wrote: If you pick a 15 year old boy off the street, he's faster than most men you pit up against him too. Teenage boys are way more physically fit and faster than most adult men.
Fuck, did I ever say it was 50-50? Why the fuck are you such a fucking retard all the time? Is it not painful?

Maybe he's faster... but he's probably not taller. Height allows a slower person to move faster than a faster person Smile

Observe... a man an inch tall can move a foot in half a second. That's fucking fast. But a man 1 foot tall can move 12 feet in two seconds. He's bigger, therefore travels further, despite moving overall more slowly compared to the smaller person. Winning a race isn't about how fast you move... it's about how *far* you move, and whether you can move that distance before the other guy.

I dunno man... rats are fast. Lions sleep the day away Smile

We are not equal, we won't ever be equal, and we shouldn't be equal.

There are way too many physical, mental, chemical, etc differences. We are different creatures plain and simple.

Okay, so men and women are creatures now instead of human beings. Awesome, this thread just keeps getting better and better.

We are more than just animals, but yes, we are creatures.

Ummm, "anima" means breathing, or having a spirit. I'm not sure about the spirit part, but we breathe probably as well as any other animal.

(May 14, 2013 at 6:01 pm)ideologue08 Wrote: Why do some people believe that men and women are equal to one another when that's clearly not the case? There can never be totally equal opportunities for the two genders because they aren't the same thing!

Consider this for a moment; a 5 month pregnant woman and a man both have the same credentials for a particular job, but the man gets it purely because he's a man and therefore not pregnant. This is the most logical business decision, what company would go through having to pay maternity leave to a woman that's not contributing a damn thing to the company for the next year? This is not the same as racism or homophobia because the colour of a person's skin does not affect on their performance whereas a pregnant woman is obviously affected psychologically, biologically and then eventually economically as well.

Another example; a firm wants to hire a security guard so they deliberately hire a man instead of a woman. I don't see how women should expect equality here.

There are countless examples but I'll end up with a controversial one. There was a spat between a male tennis player Giles Simon and a female tennis player Serena Williams with regards to the prize money given to the male tennis winner and the female tennis winner.

Men play far more than women and also pull in a higher television ratings, it makes sense for them to be paid more on average. But the ultra-feminists aren't happy with the facts so they pushed and pushed for equal pay. But equal pay for what? It doesn't make any financial sense.

In case I'm accused of sexism; women should in my opinion be able to discriminate against men freely in certain industries such as beauty, child education, fashion etc. Bottom line is; men and women aren't the same thing so why should "equal opportunities" exist? They aren't equal.

- Many firms hire women as security guards, though it depends on the use. I am a campus security administrator, and I would readily hire a female officer. I already have some under my employ.

- I also run a business, and I doubt a heavily pregnant woman would even be hired for that reason, or even attend an interview. I would hire her but on reduced pay, or allow her to work from home until she comes in the company.

- I personally don't give a shit about equal pay in tennis (a shitty sport if there ever was one), however the game is whether male or female, so why not equal pay?

I think as a general rule, all should be paid equally, dependent on skill level, authority, job design and tasks conducted. It's not "unfair" IMO for a CEO to earn more than a junior admin assistant.

Are you seriously upset that he called humans creatures or do you just want to hear yourself talk?

Anyway, women and men are not equal. The two sexes shouldn't necessarily even have equal rights under the law, although I personally don't care one way or the other.
