So that would mean I somehow chose for the notion of a god who punishes his creation for his own mistakes to not make sense to me...or for that matter, to be fooled by the complete lack of evidence for the existence of him or indeed anything supernatural.
Or, God designed my brain knowing fully well what conclusions it would reach...therefore, if Christianity is true, then God wants me to go to hell.

Or, it means you took a strawman and built a false dilema out of it...

Or, it means you took a strawman and built a false dilema out of it... No dilemma here. While I know I can never be 100% certain that there is no god, I am 100% certain that Christianity is a fallacy. Unfortunately, sarcasm doesn't always translate to the written word.

This is not a good thing to say to a religious person. It amounts to asking "Do you really think God would do something that I don't think He is justified in doing?" There is no explicit argument within the question, and when a derogatory caricature(which is what this is and which also, may I remind you, atheists themselves seem to detest) of a belief system one little understands is spoken with an air self-congratulation, as if one had asked a significant question, one is liable to embarrass oneself.
If you think there is an implicit argument, do yourself and others a favor and just render it explicit.
"I know what you are thinking about,' said Tweedledum: 'but it isn't so, nohow.'
'Contrariwise,' continued Tweedledee, 'if it was so, it might be; and if it were so, it would be; but as it isn't, it ain't. That's logic." ~Tweedledum and Tweedledee discussing the finer points of logic
