So, as I understand it, everything in the universe including space was a singularity and then it explodes. Exactly what was around that singularity if not space? What is the difference between nothing and space?

Question about the Big Bang
|
As far as I understand it, singularity state of universe is not comparable with existence, only if something exists, term "around it" would make sense ...
Therefore, your question does not make any sense whatsoever. If I asked you what was around you before you were conceived, what it would be your answer ? ![]()
You might want to head over to youtube and search for the 2013 Asimov debate. Its about 2 hours of discussion on what nothing is.
Bottom line - not much agreement. I actually watched it last night. As I interpret it (beware) space can be deformed by gravity and therefore has structure - even if completely empty. Nothingness (absolute) wouldn't even transmit Gravity (or light). There was a lot of debate as to whether nothingness is subject to physical laws of any kind. Again no real conclusions. |
