A deconvert from ISLAM!

RE: A deconvert from ISLAM!
I had a friend/business associate who lives in Peshewar. He was a nice guy and said the people there were very friendly to visitors but I certainly wouldn't want to be an atheist ANYWHERE in Pakistan. Seems like it would be best to just go through the motions and never reveal your true beliefs.

Anway, welcome!

Welcome, friend. Please be careful.

I have the highest regard for people like you. When xtians throw in the towel on the jesus shit about all they risk is a hissy fit from other xtians. They don't usually have rocks thrown at them.

Welcome! I've never personally known an ex-Muslim Atheist. The closest I've come was an ex-Baha'i atheist from Iran whose family left the country when he was two during the 1979 Iranian revolution due to the oppression those of his family's religion experienced at the time.

Really cool guy. We were good friends.

We all worked at the same place. One an ex-Baptist atheist, one an ex-Catholic atheist, one an ex-Mormon atheist, one an ex-Baha'i atheist.

You would have been a great addition.

RE: A deconvert from ISLAM!
thanks guys, I wish i could show how things are over here. Sometimes I really laugh at the utter bluntness of these people to other beliefs. In my university, every teacher would try to shove Islam down your throat, completely ignoring the fact that there might be people in class who are NOT muslims, actually there aren't much, but what about people like me? In scientific subjects teachers would use scientific concepts to prove god's existance, for example my physics teacher claimed this yesterday in class.
"everything in nature exists in pairs, there's only one exception however, *points finger upwards* and he wasn't referring to the ceiling fan Tongue " others would claim that no prayers=no marks e.t.c. also not to mention the fact that ISLAMIC STUDIES is compulsory here for getting a bachelors degree! and for getting your high school equivalence certificate. So you must take "islamic studies" both in your high school and your bachelors!!
Anyway much thanks to all of you, for keeping my hopes high! also honestly speaking I don't feel much threatened by them now. I am always role-playing though, gets difficult sometimes.
Also for the guy who asked if i have ever considered leaving this place, well I have obviously, but sadly I can't. I could only have left for doing bachelors from EU or elsewhere, but due to financial constraints that wasn't possible, now I have planned to leave after my bachelors are done, for masters that is.

there's nothing wrong I know, but it feels as if you're trying to stop an erupting volcano in your head, but now I've channeled that volcano towards this site Tongue

NO doubt that's the safest way to go, but by doing so i feel that i am being a hypocrite, just like these religious A-holes, i think i should come out open, actually i'm ALWAYS thinking about this all day long, i.e what stance should i take.

Hello and welcome to AF! ^_^
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

Amazing story. Welcome on board. Sadly many people across the world still have to pretend they are something they are not to survive in society. If you get the chance to do your masters degree out of Pakistan that's great - but if you get used to a different environment it may be very tricky for you to go back later.

There are some interesting choices ahead for you I think. Good luck with them.
