I went to Bogey, btw. Had the sense to leave that hellhole, it's positively pleasant up here, night in the 60's, day in the upper 70's early 80s...plenty of cool rain.

You fukkers don't know what HOT is.

You've gotten soft in your old age. Try again when it's 115 here in NC and full humidity.

No you don't. It's miserable. You can't do anything outside without getting totally soaked with sweat. I tend to sweat a lot anyway, but add 90% humidity and I'm literally sweating buckets.

I lived in England for about 2 1/2 years, and thought it was funny when they'd issue heat warnings when the temperature got up in the 80's. One thing I don't miss is the nearly constantly overcast skies.

Paul, when I leave my condo, even though the hallways to the elevators are insulated with small windows and all air conditioned condos open into them, the hallway is...damp. Then I get in the elevator, and it's damp, and hot. They don't air-condition them, because it's fucking useless to do so down here. And in the winter it's fine - the heat stays trapped and the atrium and elevators are pretty warm. In the summer it borders on disgusting, because, well, the heat stays trapped and so does the humidity. By the time I get to my car, which is in a lot a block away, I'm "glistening." Any more than that, I'd start to sweat.

There's a reason sweet iced tea is so popular down here.

We have fountains on nearly every corner here in Charlotte to help "cool" the air when the breeze goes through them, but also for people to soak their ballcaps or bandannas in to put on their heads, or for their kids to run half-naked through, or to splash your hands in, etc. I've never seen anyone get yelled at or chased off for dipping their feet or hands in a fountain here, and frequently the fountains are built with steps leading INTO them so you can sit a spell and cool off. That's because we're on the northern edge of "brutal" heat. I don't know how other states deal with it, but NC likes to put water features up.

Most of the public drinking fountains that still exist around here also are dog friendly, with a little bowl on their level so your canine friends can get rehydrated as well.

It's raining today, so it's not really that warm...80's I guess...but it's damp all around. Very unpleasant.

Oh, and as for the humidity - go into your bathroom and put a washcloth into the hottest water you can bear, then put it over your face. Try breathing - either through your mouth or nose. Not so hard as to suck the cloth into your orifices - just enough to get a blast of that hot steam.

Now you understand what breathing outside of an air-conditioned area is.

That's nothing. It was 68 and sunny here today. Unbearable. Only joking of course, warm mid summer sun and low humidity it just doesn't get better than that IMO.

Forecast to be 78 by Sunday. I might die in that.

In the south, they may see around 84 for the Wimbledon final on Sunday, and I reckon somewhere like London will hit 90 by next midweek.

Today was cooler than it has been recently, and there was some lovely rain around Paddington. Big Grin

For most people 82ish and higher is pretty damn warm.

For us Floridians, we can sit pretty comfortable until 87-88 and higher.

Also, these numbers relate MOSTLY to the East coast where most states are relatively humid. The dryer states tend to be more bearable at the SAME temperature. But at the same time, they are also generally considerably hotter... 100+

I live in the alps, no matter how cold it gets, there`s always cool streams and cool breazes to cool everyone down Tongue

I`ll start moaning about heat when I moved to Berlin and probably spend 5-6 years in an aspestos hell without any cooling systems.

78 and sunny right now, forecast is identical for tomorrow.

The Wimbledon final will be hot, 88 and sunny.

It's 26c here in London... I'm so glad I'm in an air conditioned room! I went out to get some food during my break about an hour ago and suddenly felt so hot I wanted to drop to the ground and die. Sad
