Two years later...still no idea why it was necessary to pump 116 bullets into a stopped car.
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/08/04/us/2-y...swers.html Quote:The car Mr. Herisse, 22, is driving rolls down a South Beach street. Shots are heard in the distance as Hialeah police officers try to stop the car. About two blocks later, the car slows to a stop, standing idle for more than a minute. Eight Miami Beach police officers cluster near the driver’s side. Then they unleash a barrage of more than 100 bullets, a volley so startling that the hands of the person recording the scene from his cellphone shake. Yes....Florida again.
Arizona, this time.

He does have multiple involvements with us, several this year," said Mesa Police Sgt. Tony Landato. And on the same page.... http://www.myfoxphoenix.com/story/230449...t-to-begin Quote:PHOENIX (AP) - Jury selection is set to begin Monday for a former Phoenix police officer charged with murder and animal cruelty in the fatal shootings of an unarmed man and his dog during a domestic dispute call. I'll let you know when he's acquitted. (August 4, 2013 at 3:26 pm)Minimalist Wrote: You know, I don't particularly buy that. The courts and politicians have coddled them to the point where they think they can do anything they want in the name of "law and order." I would love to see the rate of police officer involved shootings if we started throwing these assholes in jail. The courts send the message that the consequences for excessive force and unjustified killings are minimal to non-existent, so the cops have no incentive to ensure the proper amount of force is used for a situation.

Many are acquitted by juries. The fault lies not within our stars but in ourselves.

In jury trials for a citizen the punishment is often much more harsh than the average judge would give. But a jury trial for a cop is the safest bet for the defendent. Kowtowing to an authority figure. Bias is rampant. How can we eliminate bias from our psyche? I'm not sure it's possible.

5 Apologies to the Cops Who Beat Me Up for No Reason
Article Wrote:Not long ago, five LAPD officers came to my apartment in the middle of the night, pinned me to the ground, and handcuffed me, sort of by accident. Before they left, I forgot to get a card or a phone number from them, so instead I'm writing this open letter and hoping they read it.
Cops break into house without a warrant, shoot two dogs and handcuff occupants. Seems they had the wrong house.

Okay - this is from TheOnion and it is supposed to be a joke....I think.
http://www.theonion.com/articles/insecur...ove,33427/ Quote:RALEIGH, NC—Calling it his lifelong dream, local man Brendan Lockhart, an insecure and perpetually frustrated bully who believes he has something to prove to the world, told reporters Thursday that he is seriously considering a career in law enforcement. It sounds more like someone was writing about someone they knew. RE: Fucking Cops

But police who abuse their power contribute to the degradation of law to order. In a peaceful society the police have to be necessarily peaceful. |
