The Fucking Courts Are As Bad As The Fucking Cops

We should all take a knee.

South Carolina’s Poor Go to Jail
One homeless man has been arrested or cited 270 times on the
same charge, trespassing. He has never been represented by a lawyer.
Quote:He is at the mercy of the South Carolina municipal courts, an idiosyncratic system in which police officers serve as prosecutors, judges are not required to have college degrees, and public defenders are often absent.
Justice is not only blind - it is corrupt beyond belief.
We should all take a knee.

Well, the problem for a long time has been we are still stuck far too much on this bullshit idea that the rich will end up on cat food if they pay more in taxes.
We will never have a perfect system, and pay inequity has to exist to a degree, just like in evolution there is a give and take. But certainly it is lopsided now, way beyond what is manageable, and it is certainly not ethical or moral at this point.
The poor cannot afford a lawyer like 45 can. And if anyone has ever talked to a public defender, they can tell you that it is impossible to defend them in the same way a rich person who can pay to have a private lawyer focus on them solely.
I don't want this used to make the word "capitalism" the issue, the issue is inequity, not the private sector itself. I have pointed out closed societies that have dictators and 1 party states that capitalize off off the global market too.
I'd say the gap is what causes this, and the challenge to those well off would be, what would you want for you, if you were accused of the same thing, but didn't have the money you do now.
There is a lack of compassion in America for those who are not so lucky, and outside nationality, to me, it is an embarrassment to my species.
We just had another group of frat boys out of LSU arrested for hazing where a guy ended up dead for drinking too much. I bet, even if some do get convicted, they would not be treated the same way as this guy.

I've got nothing for ya on college binge/hazing drinking problems.

You'd think that the rich who by virtue of their wealth wield disproportionate political influence regardless of whether or not we consider money speech..acting out of pure self interest alone, might seek to toss more of their scraps to the filthy poors. Enough to keep their necks out of the guillotine, at least. The mob is violent like that.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. That's why they never complain about the cost of their militarized police force serving as an Army of Occupation.

The guy in the article has been denied his Federal and State constitutional rights 270 times. He's basically living in an autocratic police state. We need the UN to impose a "no-fly" zone over the State until it comes in conformity with the law.

I find that to be loathsome public policy.
Citing homeless for civil infractions for being homeless isn't going to make the homeless issue go away. I suppose they think somehow that ticketing a homeless person will make them stop being homeless? Absurd.
I expect what they want here is for the homeless to go somewhere else, to be someone else's problem. Good plan, jackasses. Fuck your neighboring communities, amirite?

You're assuming that there is some thought behind this?
I'm sure the cops regard it about equivalent to picking up a dead squirrel on the road.
