I don't have the actual numbers, but there's no reason for any cop to ever have a problem with being recorded. They're supposed to be public servants that we pay for with taxes. We give them a lot of leeway, and we have every right to know what they're doing with the power we give them.

The point is that before every body and their mother was walking around with a cell phone camera no one knew it was a problem at all.  Now, we know that the cops lie all the time about killing people and, as the old saying goes, 'when one lie is detected a thousand are suspected.'

Not 'good,' chief?  By that do you mean that it shows your cop is a lying murderer?  And who is it not good for?  Sam DuBose has alreadybeen put beyond caring thanks to your cop.

How could there be exact numbers on these kinds of things?  Do you believe that there is an accurate record of every interaction between police and the public?  How could there be?

What we know is, it is frequently the case that police abuse their authority and murder people and do other bad things.  That does not mean that every cop does bad things.  But it is not isolated to one part of the country, and occurs in many different places.

Additionally, not only do police abuse their authority, they often get away with it even when there is sufficient evidence to reasonably conclude that they are wrong.  That is a systemic problem, not an isolated sort of thing.  Just read this entire thread if you imagine it is rare.

So, even if most police are okay, that does not mean that there is not a serious problem, both in what many police officers do, and what they get away with doing, even when there is evidence of them doing wrong.


Your attitude on this seems very strange.  Imagine if I occasionally murdered people and buried them in my basement.  Imagine you saying that that is terrible!  Imagine me replying that I only occasionally murder people, and most of my interactions with other people do not result in anyone dying.  Would that make it okay?  Would that mean that there really isn't a problem with what I am doing?

My attitude is in regard to posters making sweeping generalizations about a category of people. All cops are bad? Yes, I hear that. The subject line for instance. If there was thread here saying "fucking blacks!" what would the forum's attitude be? "Fucking Jews!" "Fucking faggots!"
