Cops have a "empty your clip into someone free" card that they can evoke anytime they can cough up a pretense of being scared.

I agree that law enforcement needs to be held to account. Having said that, a huge part of what causes law enforcement to be trained to fear the worst, is a long term erosion of economic stability.

If we increase worker pay and improve living conditions and invest in health care including mental health care and addictions, and not put up with gun nutters wanting all us to live in a wild west society, maybe law enforcement would not be trained to be so paranoid as to end up doing things like this.

We don't help ourselves placing blame solely on them. Law enforcement are made up of citizens too, they are part of society and their behavior is a reflection of the things we allow ourselves.

Stop the corporate welfare, tax the fuck out of the rich, increase pay so it keeps up with the cost of living. Invest in poor communities to move them up to a livable standard. Break the fucking monopoly on gun policy issues the manufactures and NRA dictate to the rest of us. THOSE things combined will improve conditions so neither the public has to be paranoid of police or police paranoid of the public.

ECONOMICS long term are why things like this happen.

I agree with you Brian. The cops are the thugs of the propertied classes. Their job is to keep the poor in line and terrorized.

Oh god, I am not willing to go that far. There are plenty of stories where cops do get arrested for their abuse and do end up in jail. Don't get focused in the moment, the bigger issue is long term. ECONOMICS.
