No, you didn't read what I wrote earlier.

Ok, has anyone here heard of or like the "Foo Fighters". I have heard the name but never listened to a song of theirs or album.

BUT, for those who think that ABBA has no inspiration to modern music.

Justin Bieber is really popular. Does that make him good?

Certainly an excellent performer. Don't confuse musicians with performer. Not into his lyrics and certainly as bubble gum as some of ABBAs songs. But again, two different intents and two different types of artists.

If you are into performing arts, then yes, he is good. That is what his talent is. Elvis got way too much credit for being a "musician". His talent was performing.

It depends on CONTEXT. Bebier's intent is not to focus on showing off his instrument playing skills. His talent is showing off his stage presence and stage act.

Broadway actors don't play music even if music is played in the background or by an orchestra. If anyone thinks they can put in the hours those actors do, or Beiber does, they can try, but to call it easy is stupid.

Nothing at that level is easy.

You are mixing apples and oranges here. ABBA were musicians, Beiber is a stage act. Both take talent to do. Both require long hours and knowing what the fuck you are doing.

You simply don't like his shallow lyrics, but that would be like saying broadway actors have no talent because they are not playing the music themselves.

I don't like Bieber either, mainly because I did not grow up listening to him. But I am more into musicians, not performers. ABBA were musicians. But they'd admit they were not good stage performers. The music carried them, not their stage act.

For a stage performer Beiber is talented.

I don't like his shallow lyrics, nor do I like any other generic pop band's lyrics. I also don't like his shallow music, nor do I like any other generic pop band's formulaic chord changes and predictable music.

...no. How so? You claim I'm the one comparing apples to oranges, but look at this analogy you've presented.

I don't eat cheeseburgers everyday, but I will not disown all pop music because you think it sucks. I like Donna Summer and Rick James and Rick Springfield. I like the Bee Gees, and Metallica and Manhatten Transfer and David Sanborn. I know a Redneck who likes banjo and Celine Deon.

You don't like pop music? So?

Just say you don't like it. That does not mean pop stars don't have talent. It just means you don't like them.

I didn't mix a damned thing. A stage act is a stage act, be it a play or musical stage act in the form of a concert or musical. Cher, is a stage performer,

The overlap is that the FOCUS is on performing where music is the backdrop done by others.

Just stop and say "I don't like pop music". That does not mean that pop stars in music do not have talent. It just means you don't like them.

A musician's job is to create and perform music. A stage actor's job is to act and sing (sometimes, they only have to act). How are they being compared, again?

Let the record show that the reason I don't like pop music is because, judging from the music that they have realized, they are far less talented than musicians in some other genres.

FOR THE LOVE OF FUCKING THOR!

Broadway musicals have people on stage who SING AND DANCE. The music is either canned or an orchestra which the singers and dancers don't do themselves. A stage performer like Beiber does the same thing. He sings and dances while other people play the music.

So what's the point you're trying to make? That Bieber is a crappy musician? I think we agreed upon that already. Which, of course, assists my point that pop stars are far less musically talented.

This criticism extends to all pop music. Even if ABBA never had stage shows like Bieber or Beyonce do.
