I assume you can back this rather wild statement up with facts? Or this just your opinion?

No, all that religion offers is a world view based on a book written 2000 years ago, a book that has no relevance to todays society or social standards. How this can be considered “help and hope” is frankly delusional.
But then we are talking about grown adults who still talk to their imaginary friend.

Given the nature of mental health problems (I have some experience with this as my girlfriend suffers from type II bipolar disorder) offering people the help of your invisible friend is not the answer. Specialist help from trained professionals, coupled with love and support from real people is the way forward.

You love to just pull bullshit out of your ass in an attempt to demonstrate your religion's superiority, don't you?

I've got news for you, GC. I've been in several mental hospitals and they were riddled with Christians.

And never once did I think about telling them they should drop their religion.

This isn't a fake disease you get to play around with, you don't recommend drugs to people who are sick, right? Then why are you playing doctor here? You think we, on a forum, should "help" someone who tells us they have mental health problems? How? By being pseudodoctors? We're just here to be friendly and hopefully provide a little support. If you cannot understand that your belief does not concern someone who's mentally ill, that only their beliefs matter in the course of their treatment and recovery, then I don't think you'll understand the point here.

You sure like to jump to your conclusions and condemn someone, why? I never offered any type of medical help, in actuality all I've offered is to listen and help with what seems to be a spiritual matter. My concern is that she/he gets well, and if an ear is helpful then I will listen, if spiritual advice is asked for I will help. Your problem seems to be that an atheist may become a Christian, to me that is a tragedy, it ultimately comes down to her/his decision, not your's nor mine. Your bias as to how Christians attack people with their beliefs is unfounded with me, you might ask before jumping to conclusions that do not fit with my beliefs.

Mental problems have nothing to do with spirituality at all. This is not a spiritual matter at all.

When does having a friend with a mental illness make someone an expert, I have a friend with bipolar disorder (not a Christian) and it doesn't make me an expert on his illness, so you're only proposing opinion in this matter. Christians offer love and support to those in need and Christian professionals are excellent in their medical fields. Your bias opinion and hatred for the Christian faith is unfounded and insulting. Our faith is in God not a book of study, shows how little you understand Christianity.

Bragging how superior you are. You can say anything about people, you need to show proof of your statement. I assume the score your keeping is the number of mentally ill, and that you have counted yourself first, quite brave of you. You like the others believe my intentions are to convert one of your own. Well that is between God and k2490.

If god wanted you to adopt the beliefs of a group that bases their ideology on a book that ends in total destruction (s)he would contact you individually. people that pressure you to think what they think do it because they want you to acknowledge that 'they are right'. keep ya head up.

I think if you bothered reading, k2490 felt a lot of pressure converting, and thought it was annoying. no one asked for more information, or was interested in converting. if k2490 asked, i wouldn't have asked you to stop. because k2490 said it was annoying, and i'm thinking it's a source of stress, that's why i think religious people should back off, instead of saying they're trying to help, like they know what's best.

I know what k2490 said, I'm fully aware. I was offering to help no more no less, it's not just a Christian thing to do it's something responsible caring people do. You have no idea of what I would have said in trying to help, none at all. You are imagining things I would say out of your biased opinion of me. Actually I wish k2490 would reply if she/he can. I would also like to know k2490's gender, it feels odd referring to someone by a number.

"just sayin'".... I was seriously lambasted here for using that "worn out" term!

But what is worse? Your reply! I never saw you this way my friend.

What can anyone say, or do that will help a person?

Whether it be meds, counselling, mans best friend, or religion.

The chief method for AA members to quit alcohol is through God. It's been that way for almost a century! And, EVERYTHING else was tried...unsucessfully I might add!

Whatever your bias is, its unfair to rule out anything that may help a person in their time of need.... and that includes the Christian God.
