I did. I was wondering if you knew it. Hint: Nobody actually knows for sure, there are studies pointing to a one to five percent "success" rate, others in the thirties, and a couple with fifty to sixty percent success rate. All the studies have flaws.

AA sure as hell didn't work for my mom, and you won't find someone who's more sincere about her belief in God (even though she's refreshingly not at all annoying about it). The god she believes in appears to have forsaken her and left her a broken shell of a woman, but she blames herself, like a good Christian.

Actually, that's being in despair, and keeping yourself from God's love and mercy. Anything negative is rooted in ourselves, or humans...NOT GOD! AA is about support. You either want it, and do it...or...you don't!

AA is about cmoving one unhealthy obsession to another topic. Addicts will always have an addiction, whether it be to alcohol, drugs, shoes, or stamp collecting. AA attempt to exploit that aspect of addictive personalities to make them become obsessed with/addicted to a religion instead of booze. It isn't a healthy way to go about things, as it doesn't really solve the problem of being an addict.
ronedee Wrote:Anything negative is rooted in ourselves, or humans...NOT GOD! that is absolutely cruel in it's ideological context. "you are everything bad and I am everything good, I get credit you get shame" ~ ronedee's version of god... this idea proposes an eternal self-worthlessness and i feel bad for anyone that is stuck in such a pyramid scam as monotheism. Just sayin'. Yeah, you're right. I was mostly joking and had completely lost sight of how the thread began. I certainly don't really think anyone suffering from mental illness is scum. Very unfortunate choice of words. Apologies to any and all offended.
well it's one thing to be sick, it's another thing to be spreading a sickness. I think it's fair to say that any preaching christian is the scum of the planet, along with the other mono-idealist groups preachers and pushers.

What did He say that is bad, or wrong? How has He hurt anyone? Personally, or His message? And if it helps another to succeed over addiction who are we to say its "bad"?
