For me, I always hold a door open for a woman. And of course for anyone carrying something with both hands. Or a frail old person with a cane or walker.
But if a guy holds a door open for me it feels kind of insulting to me. Like he's saying his masculinity is superior.
I can open the doors on my own, ok?

I usually open the doors for others, if they open for me, I'll thank. Usually I have enough on my mind not to care much about it.

I will hold a door open or open it for the person that appears to need help regardless of their sexual organs.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

I open doors for others regardless of sex. If their hands are full I run ahead and open it. If they're right behind me I hold it open for them. I'm surprised no one has mentioned people with strollers yet. Open doors for them. It sucks negotiating opening a door and moving a stroller through it, especially when there are two doors (ie. buildings with the outer door, an anteroom, and the door to actually get into the building).

I'm the weirdo that can't judge distances and holds the door open for a really long time. Or I open the door for one person and feel the need to hold it for everyone. I appreciate it when someone does the same for me. It's sad when someone sees it as something related to gender rather than a polite gesture.
