The weather just turned in the last two or three weeks so I haven't been able to get outside to run, like, at all. Move to Texas! The politics suck and the bugs are gigantic, but for 7 months out of the year, it's gorgeous running weather. Just watch for rattlers- I came on one once running (it looked like a paper bag in the road, so I ran right up on it) and nearly shit myself when it got angry at me.
What part of the world are you running in?

Oregon.
I'm actually a really picky runner: for as much as I don't like running in the rain, I hate running when it's hotter than, like, 75 degrees out even more; I get overheated really really easily and feel like crap afterwards because of the heat. For as much as I don't like it, I do regularly go out running when it's rainy (except when it's pouring and has been all day) but if it's over 75 degrees outside there's no way I will go out running.
That's why I ended up taking the summer off, it just got too hot over my lunch breaks to go running. And now that I'm out of the habit and the weather is turning cooler I've gotta get my butt in gear and start going out again. I'm thinking next summer I might try morning runs in order to keep it up over the summer and beat the heat.
Ack, I'm such a complainer.

I hadn't done any physical excercise for about 7 years until 6-7 weeks ago, when I finally found the motivation to get up and do it. I picked my route without knowing how far it was, fired up a running app on my smartphone and set off. I ended up running 5.3k in 35 mins but I was fk'd. Two days later I did the same route in reverse and got my time down to 31 mins and felt pretty good. A few days after I went out again, started running and decided to just keep going. I ended up doing 10.3km in 61mins with the only discomfort being chafed nipples.
I've now seriously got the bug. I'm aiming to do 10km sub 45 mins but I think that will take a lot of work. I'm contemplating finding a running partner as they can help with motivation, pace etc, but I sort of like the solitary nature of running.

A partner never worked for me. They were either to fast or too slow or wanted to talk. I loved the "me time" running provided. I worked out many a problem that way.

Thanks =)
Yeah I see what people meant earlier in the thread when they said it stops being a chore and something you enjoy, I'm starting to get it. First it's just a chore, then it's a chore but one you feel really bad about skipping, then you start to really enjoy having finished the run (especially at an unprecedented pace) and look forward to the next one. Maybe it needs to be done outdoors for it to be an intrinsically pleasant experience.

Are they getting the same pleasure out of it as I got from running outside? Why AREN'T they running outside if it's not raining or freezing?
Good on you for hitting the sweet spot in running, Stue. Are you finding the endorphin zone yet?

The runners high? Nah, the pleasure I get at the moment is from the sense of accomplishment and getting a step closer to my health/body goals. I'm only running 5k at a progressively faster pace, how far/long do you have to run before that happens? Not that I'm interested in getting high or nothing
