My misogyny

RE: My misogyny
I also see that he's a Theist. Not a terrible surprise that a Theist would be raised in that environment. Obviously most Theists in the western world are raised is non-sexist homes, but I would guess the percentage that are raised otherwise is way higher than their secular counterparts. If you include the Muslim world or Catholic Latin America, the number of Misogynists is staggering.

For a second I thought you said that all women shit, but thank Jesus you didn't. We all know women don't poo. I won't have anyone telling me they do.

You have a problem with the ladies?
Are you a lady? Tongue

The ladies are a very nice part of humanity... except for some 99% of what comes out of their mouths...

Oh.... we're not supposed to help the condition?.... I told you I suck at this therapy thing, in your intro thread, didn't I?... Tongue

I have a hard time empathizing. I've always enjoyed the company of women myself. I've always preferred conversing with them. Of course I'm also attracted sexually to women but I think my preference runs deeper than that. On average -but far from universally- I find women are more coherent between what is on their minds and what they feel. Men, formerly myself included, can be excessively detached and abstract. Teaching has disabused me of any thought that women are kinder, especially not to one another.

Sorry you are having a hard time appreciating one half of humanity. Good luck with that.

I am really interested in what kind of an upbringing you had.

My mother was a very smart and independent person but vicious control freak who treated me like a scientific experiment. The complete household was practicaly run acording to her rules. But growing up in that enviorment made me more independent as an individual and I generaly have big admiration for smart women.

I came up with an idea for a book that took place in the future where everyone lived in a society that had learned much of the underlying, psychological causes behind behaviors, and as a consequence of that, anti-social and criminal behaviors were excused. The idea came to me because I believe we are in danger of lessening the role of personal responsibility. Of course, it is something I struggle with, because as I get older, I lean more and more towards determinism.

I think this is a case where judgement should be withheld until we understand the extent of his upbringing. I could see there being a severe enough circumstance that could lead to extreme misogyny that would be more of result of attempting to cope, but it very well could be that his upbringing doesn't justify it. If he really is in therapy for it, I think we should give him the benefit of the doubt, because it indicates a desire to change.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

I generally prefer the company of women....get too many men in one place and they start acting like assholes. Just look at the republican convention.

I suppose you could join a monastery or something.
