Kinda weird. We're about to get slammed by a big storm in the bay area. San Francisco, Marin and Oakland had already announced they would close schools. Just got an email that my district will also close tomorrow. It isn't even raining much yet. That's right, it won't be a snow day. It'll be a rain day. Weird, huh?

Celebrating with my eldest who can't quite contain herself . Two college applications back, two acceptances. I wish the price tag issue were simpler though. Between merit aid, need based aid, and need based loan, the sticker price has little to do with the price. And I don't like being penalized for having saved.

We sure were given a better opportunity by the generations before mine than we've done for the ones to follow. We're are the stingiest generation. I'm going to sound very conservative, but I don't think the problem is stinginess. If we didn't have the loan aide we do, colleges could never have raised tuition at 30% over inflation. The administrative arm of colleges and universities has expanded exponentially, and it's expensive. That and English professors think they're worth 200,000 a year. But yes we had it easy. I worked my way through college. That was actually possible without borrowing in the 1980s.

Watching Asmahan, Egypt was liberal!!!
Btw, it's very cold I'm starting to hate winter
It's cold in Egypt? Really? In the temperate regions we solve that problem by dressing in layers, some of them wool.
I forgot to put my clothes in the laundry. I don't have much to wear. And for some reason electricity gets cut off for six hours a day

Wool is the answer. In layers. Maybe some polypro in there too.
Enjoying a dinner of salmon, homemade Mac and cheese, and broccoli that Kitty made for me.
