![]() I wish summerqueen was here to thank her again for the great idea of starting this group. So far we have 15 enthusiastic heretical members! Not bad for such a small city/town. Not bad at all. Now if only I had more time in my hands to schedule all the things they are asking me to do. lol Dayum! This is one excited group! I'll manage. They're worth it. ![]()

Mourning an internet buddy. I learned today from another board that he had been killed in an accident back in NY on Monday. Posted with him for years at Madison Square Garden's Rangers forum. What a group that was. In March, 2003 he put together a package where 33 of us went to a game against the Flyers. We had a cocktail hour in the meeting room and the whole moderating staff from MSG came down to meet the people they were always warning and suspending.

My condolences...especially as he was a Ranger's fan. Sigh. Smoking a pipe and drinking some cheap swill. My kids are watching an encore of Gatsby...which gives me hope they may actually grow up with a modicum of culture about them.
I'm on the sofa suffering. I didn't finish my walking marathon last night, I walked at nearly twice the speed I had been training at and ended up collapsing and being sent home in a cab by a paramedic (after refusing to go to the hospital). I can't walk, I feel sick and I'm in sooo much pain. I woke up this morning feeling like I was gonna throw up and found I couldn't physically stand up, and had to crawl to the toilet! Bad times. But on the bright side, I still helped raise a lot of money for Cancer Research UK, so it was worth nearly dying for.
I'm definitely doing it again next year, but I've learned that I should go at my own pace, and not try and keep up with people who walk way faster than me. Next time I'm bringing my MP4 player with an Audiobook and some music and go at a speed that I am comfortable with.
Oh my gosh, I hope you're ok and recover quickly.
About twenty years ago, a friend underwent something similar. We were all doing a 5k fun run (iirc) only it turned out to be something like twice that distance. The friend tried her best but ended up having an asthma attack and a pretty major seizure from the effort. She soon got better but she was finished with running after that. So you take it easy and get well, hear?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Hope you're OK, Nora.
Reminds me of the end of my running career. First marathon, I only ran it to support a friend. I had never run more than 11 miles prior. A little under 16 miles in, I had to drop out due to pain in my legs and feet. It turned out I had stress fractures in both ankles.
Thanks. x
