Looking like my new TV will need to be serviced by a technician  firmware is updated, a factory reset did nothing, I blew out the USB ports with canned air, the service email I got basically told me to repeat all of that stuff again and then call for service if nothing happens so... Gotta make the call.
Oh well, it's like 50% bigger than my previous TV and it was free so I'll make it work
