What's everyone up to right now?

In the universe, it would be Hydrogen, Helium, and Oxygen IIRC - at least "now" in time.

ETA - also the numbers I gave were for the earth's crust.  I don't know that there's enough hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen to skew the numbers.  Not off the top of my head anyways.

Admittedly, the oceans don't contribute all that much if you consider a certain depth. It's curious that Hydrogen is by far the most abundant in the Universe, but so under-represented here on Earth - mainly because it evaporates so quickly, I suppose.

Wondering why I'm not working and instead commenting in this thread. I should be working.

Both helium and molecular hydrogen easily escape the atmosphere, hydrogen of course is highly reactive with oxygen so there's not much free hydrogen around, and the helium would be long gone if it wasn't a product of radioactive decay.

Probably not in the realm of physics/chemistry that you have expertise in, what? I have only a passing familiarity with it.

I can kind of tell you where the Hydrogen came from in the first place. What happens to it then is not my department Smile

Yeah I took a little chemistry and a little physics years ago. Particle physics is not in my wheelhouse at all.

I just learned there's a guy about 40 minutes away who has a trebuchet for sale - at $500 I could not build one for that. I wonder how it would look in my back yard?

^^^Exchanges like these are why I fucking love this place.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Surely there better than discussions about gods and religion.

I'd much rather just chit chat about sciencey stuff and play dumb forum games with my AF friends.
