Well, a first pass through the web seems to indicate my best opportunities in Japan would be in business, finance, or engineering. I have interests in all three areas, but would probably do best in an engineering specialty, except that engineering specialties generally require more than a bachelor's degree, and the work load is heavy if I intend to shoulder a double burden. Still, I enjoyed the computer engineering that I studied, and I'm a total techno-geek. The other possibility would be something like materials engineering. Anyway, I've narrowed the field substantially from this first pass. Now I need to look at what works in the American market in those broad areas. (ETA: Looking at the bureau of labor statistics, marine engineer sounds interesting, and that would probably sell well in Japan. Computer engineer is probably my bread basket though, given my natural inclinations, and that the math content is heavier there, which I like. I really want to go into pure mathematics, but that dog just won't hunt. If I can afford the workload, I'll make that my minor.)

Holy shit - dry season? What the fucking fuck!
Had a nice seafood dinner, halfway through the main course, it started pouring rain (seated on the patio). Made a dash indoors - finished dinner and attempted to wait out the rain in the bar next door.
No dice, rain is predicted to continue til morning.
Had to ford 4 streets to get home. Water almost up to my knees.
I'd be surprised if we dont get at least 6-7 inches of rain by morning.

Remembering that I may want to work in China, Korea, or Southeast Asia at some point, and maybe India. I'll still focus on engineering, but I think I'll investigate the Chinese market. What works in Japan would probably work in Korea, though at this point, while I have an interest in continuing my studies in Mandarin, I think considering adding learning Korean to my study plans would be unrealistic.
