Had to get something out of my system today -- I drove over to a cross-country ski centre, rented some gear, and tried for about an hour to figure out how cross-country skiing works. Had a reasonable amount of fun with it, but I'm not so sure my knees and ankles appreciated it. For less than $20.00 CDN I gave it a go; much better than spending hundreds of dollars on boots, skis and poles, doing it once, and swearing it off forever.

That's really cool. I would have been thrilled to have x-country skis, snowshoes, or a sled and a brace of huskies this last week. My knees and ankles are crying from navigating snow and ice in summer hiking boots and sneakers.
