It's not impossible. Although I generally get on OK with the administration team (when they're not hissing venom at each other). It's the clinical team who have reason to hate me. Apparently I'm a bit of a Bastard to them. Don't see it myself, I keep them in a steady supply of milk and biscuits and I praise good performance. However since we work with patients not paperclips I tend to come down on them like the very wrath of God / horrible bleak futility of an empty pointless universe (delete as appropriate) on people who are clinically inept or inadequate. I'm funny that way. When we get it wrong people end up having bits chopped off so there is no room for equivocation. :/
People don't like that these days.

I got sent on a course once where they told me that if you are going to say one negative thing you have to say 2 positive ones.
What a pile of bollocks. "you failed to spot that patients cellulitis and prescribe antibiotics which resulted in his admission. On the other hand your attendance this year has been great and you didn't keep him long in the waiting room."
Really?

Did they vote for you to go on that course?
But yea ... I kinda agree with you, if you choose to deal with people's health you have to be extra careful and good at what you do.

Ah yes, the compliment sandwich.
I've always worked for men, and I just enjoy cutting to the chase. Of I'm doing something wrong or I'm not doing something you want me to do, just tell me.

And yes, if the keogh report showed us anything it showed us that if nothing bad ever gets said, nothing good ever gets done. And whilst you might want not want to work for me you'd probably prefer to be treated by my team than one who's manager was "nice".

That was it! Compliment sandwich.
I'm with you!! When I was being trained we were told when we'd made a pigs ear of something. As such there was no stigma, you dealt with criticism as a necessary part of development. Everyone makes mistakes, it's how you recognise them and rectify them that counts. Now we can't do that in case we hurt someone's feelings.

I find no sense in beating around the bush. I think when you are blunt and to the point, it promotes professionalism. If there's a lot of excessive talk and emotions, I think it really creates more drama. I'm just one that really goes to work for the job, not to make friends. Don't get me wrong, I am friendly to my coworkers and get along with people there better than others, but I rarely mix my personal and professional life.

I bought some orange juice earlier today and it was so delicious I drank the whole 1L carton. Now I'm really suffering for it. :(

Jager. My depression is getting to me, so I'm taking a sick day.
I have plans on how I intend to kill myself, but tonight I just feel like going to the top floor and jumping. Splat. Simple. Effective.
I didn't have time to go shopping earlier, but when I called it a day, I did a little shopping. I spent $100, mostly on coffee and booze. Tomorrow I'll get groceries.
