Today's going to be my last day here! I had a fantastic interview yesterday and they've already made (and I've accepted) a very good offer. My first day is Thursday.
Today is a great day! ![Big Grin Big Grin](https://atheistforums.org/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Will look forward to the in depth account at 11.

I finished studying a topic on series in my analysis book. I must admit that when I first learned calculus II, I never really gained a true appreciation for the fact that a series can be expressed as an nth partial sum and finding the limit for the nth partial sum is equivalent to finding the sum that the series converges to. Hence, after working some examples in my analysis book, my appreciation for that concept has grown greatly.
P.S. I'm also grateful for working various exercises in my math proof books because they have been a good source of lemmas to use when I'm trying to establish the truth of various mathematical statements.

Math proof exercises do sound like a lot of fun. What's a recommended reading start for math proof exercises?
I remember a year ago or so while studying Calculus, I went through proof exercises for limits using delta-epsilon. It was hard at first to wrap my mind around this delta-epsilon definition of the limit, but eventually I did, and it was way worth it.

The hard drive wasn't totally lost, he just need to take it to a repair shop.

Regarding (1), for me, the book that really taught me proofs was How to Read and Do Proofs by Daniel Solow (his video lectures were also very helpful): his main focus is on teaching the basics of proof writing, and as a result, his book does not contain a plethora of exercises. Now, Mathematical Proofs: A transition to Advanced Mathematics by Gary Chartrand along with The Book of Proof by Richard Hammack, contain plenty of proof exercises to practice on; these books can also be used to learn proofs too. However, if your proof-writing and reading is pretty good, then the variety of exercises in Hammack and Chartrand may be fun for you to work and play around with.
Regarding (2), if you were able to wrap your head around the epsilon-delta proof while learning calculus, then that is very impressive. I was not able to fully understand/appreciate it until I learned basic proof writing techniques, especially those techniques that deal with proving statements that contain quantifiers. However, like you, I must admit that understanding the epsilon-delta proof was very rewarding. There is a similar style of proof called the epsilon-N proof which is the proof technique used to prove limits of sequences.

Odd jobs around the house this evening. Did a bit of sewing, and finally packed away the Yule decorations.
