It's not apparent to me why he left either. Maybe it's none of my business, but I don't really care if it's my business or not. I appreciated having him around. And I would welcome his return.

I see where he said it would be made obvious, but I didn't see where that was done. I just hope he's OK; he's had some serious shit hit him in his life that has given him some doldrums (to say the least).

Maybe just steal his car, instead?

What did I do now?

(I had Monday off, Pam worked)
I told her I'm having an easy day at home, don't give me any jobs! So she takes my car and gives me jobs!

new brake pads and rotors for her car, new front and back sway bar bushes. finished half an hour before she got home. I was black!
She walks in and says "how was your day love?" Dodgy

all women are conniving and manipulative and use their husbands till they die! Then they just get another one.
moral of the story: don't fucking tell them you're having a day off! simples!

Is that a trick question?

Modern women have just developed selective hearing. Something men have had for centuries.

And did you do all your jobs?

RE: What's everyone up to right now?
I'm currently taking an income tax accounting class. Unfortunately, the teacher has a very hands-off method of teaching this subject, mostly covering going over the answers of the week's homework. His final exam is to have us file a tax return for a fictional household. By hand, without relying on Turbotax or similar subjects. Needless to say, because, A) He does fuck all in the way of easing us into this difficult subject, B) I've never made enough to need to fill out a tax form, and C) from what I understand, most people file electronically anyway, the prospect of doing this was fucking terrifying.

However, my Dad helped me with this, and between him and my research, I've actually managed to fill in all the numbers he's given us (though I strongly suspect I may have to change line 7, since somehow, I only now figured out I needed to fill in a W2 and could not rely on the number given in this case). He gave us a total of four weeks to finish the assignment, and today marks the beginning of week two.

And, in a strange case of synchronicity, I got the Blu-Ray for Apocalypse Now for Easter (or, rather, I bought it when I was looking for the Blu-Ray of Westworld Season 1 at Walmart and didn't find that). Around the same time I started worrying about this, I looked at the special features and was watching this conversation between Coppola and screenwriter John Milius:

Starting 47:47, Milius said something that really struck a chord with me: when he mentions something Coppola told him while directing his first film: "There'll be six times you'll want to kill yourself. Don't worry about it till the seventh." The spiel officially starts at 47:06, but it was that line that gave me hope. Coppola knows a lot about how hard it can be to make a movie, especially given the clusterfuck that went into making Apocalypse Now, as documented in Hearts of Darkness (not included in this set, for whatever reason). And I'm worrying about doing something that literally everyone who has an income over a certain amount has to do (unless they're jackasses who think they can opt out for reasons that make no sense to the United States government.)

Well, I've gone through two times so far (first after realising the magnitude of the assignment, and the second after my first attempt at trying it and doing so in a state where I was too stressed out to do the math properly), and I may have come halfway to a third earlier today when I realised I fucked up my AGI really bad (by failing to include van depreciation in business income, understating self-employment tax because I somehow managed to fuck up a subtraction problem, and figured out that the one piece of information I had failed to place, about a Keogh Profit plan, had its place hiding in plain sight.) If I erased enough that it tore up the 1040 and Dad didn't pick up multiple paper copies, I probably would have hit #3. And I'd still be halfway to the point where I really need to worry about it.

And you know what, once I actually adjust the W2 and figure out how to fill out the 4684 for the $25,000 basement flood (thereby completing Schedule A), I will officially be over halfway done, lines-wise.

By an extraordinary coincidence, if you're looking at John Milius and you think he looks like John Goodman in The Big Lebowski, that's only because the Coen Brothers based Walter Sobchak on John Milius. And, remarkably, given the subject of this post, Walter has this line:

Evidently, I'm more in my element than I feared. I may just be able to hack it as a tax accountant after all.
