With all the things that needed to be done with the banjo, I started to realise how poorly intonated my cigar box guitar really was. It turns out that just having it 25 1/2" below the nut wasn't enough. I spent an hour or so last night slowly moving the bridge around until the 12th fret harmonic actually matched the open string, and while I don't think it's actually perfect (at this point, my headstock tuner might register something different from absolute pitch at the 12th fret 3 times out of 10 [but it still does register it as more or less in tune at this point] and it's really difficult to fine-tune one end without disturbing the other), it sounds a lot more in tune. It turns out the difference I needed to move the bridge was a lot more than I thought (roughly 3/4"!)

Changing my streaming TV service over from Sling TV to Playstation VUE TV. This will give me access to my local channels as well as ESPN, allowing me to watch all the football games regardless of what channel they are on, or at least I will until the Thursday night football games get blacked out on the NFL channel and are no longer available on Amazon Prime as my subscription to that expires in October. Tonight I can watch the local news in HD on my big screen TV instead of on the computer as I have been doing.

We took it to Hogeye music and while the man there was out of state, he did have someone look over it. And Dad bought some tenor banjo strings. When I got home from work, I decided to restring it (which took a while because I am NOT used to loop end strings). Here it is now:



Also, we found out who actually made it. Apparently, it was from a maker named Levin and it was made in 1905. And, yes, if it can be truly fixed (the tuning pegs are wonky and the highest one lost its spacer), and maybe with a pickup added (and C.B. Gitty sells one for dirt cheap that can probably be unobtrusively installed with no more permanently disfiguring mods than a little blue putty under the head and some Velcro tape on the side) it could easily be a worthy addition to my rig.
