Fortunately, things are finally warming up in my neck of the woods. It's currently 40 Fahrenheit now.

Last night, I had an interesting idea: I remembered being inspired by I am Big Bird to not be as anxious as I had been about my impending bookkeeping internship. I wanted to memorialise this by putting a toy version of Big Bird in a prominent place in my room and put a card on his lap saying something like:

This plan hit a minor snag when, after looking into my reserves [As a pack rat whose most reliable childhood friends were made of plush, there was a lot of them], I realised I did not have one. I gave up after looking a bit in the attic, but not before I accidentally drafted my Dad into the search. Eventually, we accepted that in my days as a Sesame Street obsessed kid, I somehow did not have a plush Big Bird in my collection. Then again, looking at the authorised versions, they do leave a bit to be desired in terms of show-accuracy. The strange mix of maturity and immaturity that's lived within me all my life never ceases to amaze me.

On a different note, this week's entry in the Deep Hurting Project will be the infamous 2001 flop Glitter.

What am I doing this Feb, 3rd. Making my final preparations for my Superbowl party. My Skins are not in it, and I am rooting for the Rams because Tom and the Pats already have more diamonds than De Beers.

While millions of Americans are watching the Super Bowl, Dad’s watching Barnwood Builders. He pointed out to me that, as decrepit as Johnny Jett is, he’s still a year younger than he is. (Actually, a little research on the topic suggests Dad’s still five and a half years younger.) He asked if I believed that, and I said “Yeah, I can believe that. I’m a day younger than Taylor Swift myself.” And what am I doing? Finally getting around to watching Michael Haneke’s latest film, and hoping to chase it down with the last 70 minutes of Glitter, which, despite its infamy, seems to be the least horrible film I’ve watched for the Deep Hurting Project so far.

Odds are, this will finally be the first day of my Business Ethics class (it was supposed to be last week, but there was a bad snow day and temperature was below zero, so it was cancelled.) I’m nervous as all Hell, but hopefully, it won’t be so bad.
