What's everyone up to right now?
RE: What's everyone up to right now?
Boris is our new PM... Not quite as orange as your beloved leader, but still a buffoon. Thinking about moving to Iceland.

Finally got the time to pony up!
(I've had all the parts for 6 months, hard to find time when you're working)

Nice new aluminum heads! I was expecting a roller cam and roller rockers. Maybe later?

Just got back from work. So hot today, I've been sweating from places I never knew I had... Even my sweat was sweating. I nearly had to wring my underpants out.

Fireball, roller cam would be nice, but a lot more work (as you know). But I am very happy with the nice lumps I've got Big Grin
The roller rocker arms are the best you can get (for canted valve setup). Stainless steel (pro magnun ultra pro XD)
Just grabbed some nice chrome molly hardened pushrods yesterday (after getting the correct length sorted).

Is the canted valve setup stock? Looks like the lifters aren't all in a pretty little line like a small block Chevy. I haven't looked inside a Ford engine in over 40 years, so I'm not too sure what I'm looking at.

Are those Edelbrock heads?

I am looking at rebuilding the 400 CI engine in my '70 Chevy truck. I'd like a roller cam for longevity with the oils available, but it seems to be working OK still with a flat tappet cam. Plus, I don't want to drop an extra $1k in it, when my wife is already balking at the $6k price tag as it stands. Most of the roller cams are for higher RPM, and I'm looking for grunt, since I tow a 6800-pound travel trailer with the truck.

I visited an elderly former patient this morning and she’s just received a box of books.

She told me to have alook through and I found a book that caught my interest.

On the origin of species in mint condition.

150th anniversary edition.

“Annotated”

Complete with “special introduction”.

Yes. Ray Comfort’s creationist propaganda piece of shit book found its way down here.

I don’t make videos but I might make an exception here as I burn it.

All right, here's what happened today; went to the last bookstore in the county that I didn't go to already this summer. I filled some of the last gaps in my Philip Roth hardcover collection, and found a hardcover copy of the version of Death in Venice I studied in my Weimar Germany history class (the version with "Mario and the Magician.") Had a mini-golf game and lost to Dad by two strokes.

And then I decided to go to Founder's Square, and I found something special: I wandered into Stargazers (a sort of New Age shop) and, wonder of wonders, the girl who ran the shops was a barefooter. I was honestly blindsided by the discovery that I decided to go to some of the other shops to see how to try and talk with her. I know, she was older, lived in another state, and there's a very good chance that someone who runs a New Age shop and a freethinker might not have that much in common besides a love for her bare feet, but by the time I came back, I saw my Dad there. He was asking for some book and she was kneeling on the floor looking for it, with her grubby soles on display. I couldn't just make a move with my Dad there. So, I looked a bit around and picked a pyrite pyramid. I bought it, and she asked "you find that special something you were looking for?" I said "well, I found one of them, anyway." She didn't ask me to elaborate. And having to not look at her bare feet, I had to look at her face, significantly older than I, and saw a ring on her finger. It would never go anywhere anyway. Sour grapes?

Also, remember my post on The Story of Eggiweg? Well, the resident ornithologist at the Wisconsin DNR identified Eggiweg as a mallard egg. "Looking at the photo with the scale, I am torn between Wild Turkey or Mallard, but leaning more toward Mallard. The shape, size, and color is more consistent with mallard. My guess is this was an abandoned egg. Mallards are notorious for nesting in people's garden beds."

Well, good news: Eggiweg wasn't separated from his nest during the big storm this weekend. He was probably just abandoned by a thoughtless mother.

Fireball, the ford cleveland motors had the canted valves on them. (but not exclusive to Ford)
this weird setup gave the air a straighter path to travel, read better high rev breathing.

I was actually looking at Edelbrock heads but they don't breath quite as well as the CHI (Cylinder Head Innovations).

Yeah, don't change the cam ...If it ain't broke ......

Oh. I haven't heard of CHI. My truck's valves are canted- it has a big block engine. It'll be my first overhaul on a big block. I'm also looking at just buying a crate engine, since I don't have a place to pull said engine out except in the street. You going to put it on the dyno when you're finished?
