What's everyone up to right now?

Listening to the thunderstorm that woke me up. It seems it's been raining here for 40 days and 40 nights.

I went out to fill the bird feeders the other day and the yard was squishy.

So, funny thing, I've been working on creating a set of instructions to make something like the Ki'eHe'aLele (Tenor Blood Ukulele) I made:



And I decided to add a page on how to properly size the soundholes. Dad's impressed that not only have I managed to go into a Hell of a lot of detail about how to properly size them (whether the traditional "maximum volume" route or making it match a certain resonant frequency), well, he actually recently got a book about luthierie that's about the size of a goddam phonebook and it somehow only mentions soundholes when it talks about putting little rosettes over them. Yes, something that would seem fundamental to the tone of an acoustic instrument somehow doesn't seem important enough for these guys who made a book about building instruments. So, here's the page in question as a JPEG:



Two things to note: First, this is page 4 of a 4-page document, so this is why the footnotes start at 10. The only thing that I think you'll need to know is that this is the box I'm talking about.

About 20 minutes ago, I noticed the wind picked up, figured a storm was coming, the lights went out breifly several times, and then sky opened up. It was oppressively hot then, it's pretty comfortable now.

It was her own fault.



She kept eating apples and none of the staff could get near.

One last walk down the beach and malecon before we drive north for the summer on Friday. Right now, sitting and enjoying an iced cappuccino.

Baseball and assorted beverages. I picked up jalapeno cheddar-wurst sausages for my midday meal, but I'm not hungry yet.

Listening to some podcasts and doing little else. I sewed for about 12 hours yesterday and can feel it in my back and hand.
