What's everyone up to right now?

I need to bathe and groom all three of mine. I put it off due to rain...which immediately undoes any bathing efforts. But I found a lady who will come over on Friday to clip nails...after a couple ooops sessions resulting in bloodshed, I decided to forego that part of the grooming.

Mine would not tolerate a groomer, so, I do it myself. It's a chore even though he's not very big. But I kinda need to do it now because it's already really shaggy right now and I want it to have growing room before it eventually snows this season.

Watching Fox News Sunday and piling the 10-quart slow cooker to the brim with pot roast fixings.

Football soon. I have to get things in order by Tuesday for a potential inspection, but I've been having trouble getting started.

Lexy passed her tracking trial today.  They just got home.

I have Cavaliers, they usually love everybody. I don't want to take them to a grooming place or the vet to have their nails trimmed. Not many people know how to deal with a deaf dog and Karma is deaf as a stone. Quinn has only ever been groomed here either by me or the groomer we used to have.

Ziggy doesn't care as long as he's getting attention. The vet says he is the most laid back dog he's ever encountered.

I have a grooming table and good lighting so it should be a breeze for this young lady who is studying to be a vet tech. She's doing various animal care things to raise money to help with her schooling. I figured it was worth trying out.

You're lucky. My Cavalier mix doesn't like the vet at all. She has a bunch of other phobias, and absolutely hates anyone wearing a work uniform or scrubs. We suspect that she was maltreated in her youth. She came to us painfully thin, and sometimes when she was running she would just fall down when making a turn. We let her run nuts in the back yard, and she's gained a few pounds and is MUCH stronger. I think that all the previous people did for exercise was take her out to do her business, and bring her back (apartment/condo dog). And don't EVEN try to lift up her tail. She had poop stuck to her hairs and was really upset, but my wife lifting her tail got a screechy response. We suspect that she was abused. The pound people were going to euthanize her, and tried to talk my wife out of the adoption. She's a really sweet dog here, and we're happy to have her around.

Oddly, Ziggy loves the vet I like the least and the vet feels the same about Zig.  It's not that I don't trust his abilities, I just don't like him as well as a couple of the other vets at the clinic...including the owner who is an old county vet and kind of reminds me of dad.

When we had an urgent matter with Zig I didn't have a choice but to see Dr. M.  He and Ziggy became fast friends.

I feel so bad for rescues...at least for their past lives.  Our Lady, who we lost a few years ago, was a rescue and she was a twitchy thing her whole life and really only liked husband, son, and me.  Everyone else was looked at with suspicion and she did not care for little kids most of all.

She's gotten much better on walks. She used to pull on the harness and end up on her back feet snarling like a pit bull, with all her teeth showing when she saw another dog. Now, she looks and growls (sometimes) and still occasionally barks, but doesn't go ape anymore. She would only take tiny drinks of water and skitter away, and still looks out the corner of her eye at us when eating or drinking, as if seeking permission. It's kind of sad to think what her life was like before she came to us. I don't dwell on that, but every once in awhile some behavior will surface, and I have to wonder why she reacts the way she does.

Came back from camping to learn stepson #2 backed the Leaf into a parked car when he was picking up takeout. Ugh

RE: What's everyone up to right now?
On one of the weirdest Internet rabbit holes-cum-Shaggy Dog Story I can remember. I recently watched this video about CreepshowArt, specifically Emily Artful's two-hour expose of how some high school shit ended up in a stalking campaign from a much larger YouTuber and her boyfriend that lasted SEVEN FUCKING YEARS. One part was particularly memorable, especially since one incident started with the boyfriend claiming to be in her city and knowing where she lived and worked. Sounds pretty horrifying, right? Especially knowing that this boyfriend was an abusive ex who's now shacked up with a much more popular YouTuber who's fine with harassing a random girl for seven years. But things just get bizarre when this leads to an email exchange where the ex-boyfriend keeps comparing her work to something called "The Mind-Bending Thumb Bending Video." Naturally, there's only so many times you can keep saying that name without wondering "what the fuck is he talking about?" I eventually found it, but it wasn't easy.

It can't be found on YouTube anymore. And, before I found it, I found out that the boyfriend's obsession with the video went far beyond this bizarre exchange. He apparently DMed several people on YouTube (and possibly other sites)  mentioning it, talking about it like it's the most amazing thing ever, and not only that, but mentioning it in other random places, like the comments of random obscure YouTube videos, the lyrics for a Kesha song on a random obscure lyrics website, a review for a random orthodontist, and, most head-tiltingly, vandalising a page about the Trafalmadorians on The Ultimate Pop Culture Wikia by claiming that they're mentioned in Slaughterhouse-Five as liking it. And I say vandalising it because I actually checked my ebook copy of Slaughterhouse-Five and found no references to it, even just looking for words like "Thumb" and "Bending" and its various forms turned up nothing. And he's apparently a big fan of Vonnegut, to the point where the alias he had in the exchange was "Kilgore Trout."

So, what is it really? It turned out to be a video that was posted to R/Cringe where this kid who sounds like Sly Stallone bends his thumb back at an unnatural angle. And it can still be seen, but I can't embed it because it's been privated at some point, but it's on the Wayback machine here.

That dog's not so shaggy.
