A few from other forums will remember him. He's been my "project" since he was born. Along with my doggie Lorenzo, thanks to all the other animals on the ranch out
here, he's pretty much now "normal". He was able to do well in High School, and got into the college of his choice. He still does not do very well with loud noise, and some other environments, but he knows himself well enough now to understand and avoid those things. I feel like an empty nester parent .. but we have built in a few "fail-safe" *outs* so if something comes up he can call for help. I lectured his roommates they had to watch out for him. Surprisingly they also had experience in their friends circles with autism and were understanding. When he's not home, my doggie is going to be lost.
What's he going to study? That's exciting that he is doing so well.
My oldest grandchild is leaving for college next month. I think she is back to psychology after a brief period of considering veterinary medicine. We'll see how it goes after the first year.
Anything with animals. He may find some sort of animal research in the Biological Sciences, but otherwise it will probably be Veterinary Science. He is a " horse whisperer" and I could see him specializing somehow in horse pregnancies, or high risk horse pregnancies.

Very cool...I know your family has had quite a variety of critters for him to become familiar with.
I was excited when Bail was thinking of Vet Med since my dad was a vet. I used to like to go on calls with him though some were a little gross. But I had a bit of experience with that since dad's parents ran a small farm with hogs, cattle, and various poultry.
Good for him! I hope he finds the right fit.

Older daughter has finally made it home after a week of trying to help out with younger daughter and the grandkids after the accident they were in nearly two weeks ago. To add to mix is the fact that younger daughter is mentally ill and won't get any help. Older daughter now needs help - therapy at the very least.
The kids are doing well physically but their world is pretty upside down. Too long a story to tell with too many plot twists. I think all that's left if for Trey to have his stitches taken out, if they aren't already.
Daughter left the hospital on Friday...I feared it would be against medical advice but she was released...they may have set her free so they didn't have to deal with her. On Thursday they took all the external hardware off her leg and casted her leg and foot. The big mystery now is if she will get follow up treatment as advised...my guess is no.
So, we are back to wondering how things will turn out. They (she and her daughter) were not allowed back into their house as the state has ordered the house and yard to be cleaned up before inhabiting it. Daughter has become a hoarder along with other issues. She is most upset because she has been hiding this from us as a family but the wreck revealed the truth.
It's a damn mess but at least the kids are okay.

So far today I've read a bit of two books and done a couple of short Latin translations for a summertime online Latin club. About to head out to a coffee shop to do a bit of writing.

Not criticizing, mind you, but what is it about coffee shops that makes them conducive to writing? I ask only out of personal ignorance (I’ve never tried to write and I don’t go to coffee shops).

Mostly the "white noise" aspect - the background rumble from distant conversations. They also smell good (people who don't like coffee might disagree), and a change of venue is a good way of getting out of a mental rut.

I have an ambient noise app on my computer that can simulate that noise.

I've tried an app like that. It was okay. I usually don't write first drafts on my computer, though; pen and paper gives me more latitude in making edits, and it's a lot faster too.
