Spent nearly $400.00 having Quinn set up for a dental, getting meds for afterward and for his fear of thunder, blood drawn, ears cleaned and treated for minor infection...then got the estimate for his dental procedure for next week...nearly $1,300.00 for that. Crap...next is Ziggy. I need to get them social security number and claim them as dependents.

Rewatching some favorite parts of Extraordinary Attorney Woo. I've got some cubed pork that I need to get to tonight. I'll throw it and some Korean BBQ sauce in the Dutch oven later.

Next week he'll need money for an obedience school field trip to Yellowstone National Park.

Sucking on a pitcher of cucumber limeade. It sounded good when I ordered it. It's actually decent chilled, but I use it to flavor my water bottle for the trip home from donating. That water isn't especially cold.

A Kalimba store dear to my heart is shutting down, and I decided to buy a 10-note. While I don’t normally have much use for one of them, I got one just so I could tune it to play this:

It’s a one trick pony, I admit, but it at least does its one trick pretty well.

Just called one of my aunts to wish her a happy 83rd birthday. Told her I was surprised she wasn't out at the local watering hole throwing a few back. She laughed and said things change with age. They must, she used to be able to drink just about anyone under the table.

Admittedly, the other kalimbas in my collection are tuned in more normal scales, (like a G major or Bb major, or an E minor pentatonic), but those scales can be used on a bunch of songs. They're a bit like harmonicas that way, but larger, more hands-on, and you can actually sing while playing them.
Even the one I just got originally came tuned to a C major scale with slightly more range than a grade-school music class recorder. But, I figured that, for my purposes, it was probably better to tune it to part of a song I loved. And, with a price so low that the shipping wound up being more, and that little spiral motif going with the Downward Spiral (the album the original song was on), it just seemed perfect.
