RE: What's everyone up to right now?

I basically had this discussion with a patient today (paraphrased).
'The loony left tried to assassinate Trump."
"No, the shooter was a Republican gun nut and Trump supporter."
"I don't get my news from lefty news agencies."
"Don't tell me, Fox news, which is a right-wing mouthpiece for Trump?"
"No. From Sky News Australia. They're neutral."
"And they're owned by...?"
"I don't know."
"Rupert Murdoch, who has been pushing right-wing propaganda since Reagan."
"They need tough leadership like Trump to protect America and Europe!"
"You know that Trump has promised to pull out of NATO, and let Putin do whatever he wants?"
"Well, America carries 90% of the cost of NATO."
"No, America has a huge defence budget, but only a percentage goes to NATO."
"New Zealand doesn't pay its way!"
"NZ isn't part of NATO."
Then the subject was changed...
Playing Cluedo with my mum while I was at Uni:
"You did WHAT? With WHO? WHERE???"

That "North" concept fried his brain.

Po8uncing on the Prime Day deals. I was just going to order my knife sharpening gear, but they had a couple of stainless steel pans that I wanted on sale, so I got those as well.

Hid an RNC ad on FB. When prompted for a reason, I chose: irrelevant.

The ONLY reason I'm on FB was to inquire about my high school class' 50-year reunion, 4 years ago. Some of those people are just as big a bunch of assholes as they were then. I did meet up with some friends that way, so that was good. I visit that place maybe 2 times a month.

It had been nearly a year since I was on FB. Every so often, I go through an FB kick.

Redid my Amazon order and chopped another $20 off the total without any sacrifices. Most was due to the sharpening stone going on sale today and there being a Used -- Like New offer on one of the pans.
I even got a better strop in the bargain. The original was 8"x2", the new one is 8"x3" and includes both white and green compound. Not that I intend to use the white, but whatever.

Ordering a 15"x21" Farberware bamboo cutting board. I've got a plastic one this size, but it doesn't stay put. The Farberware have rubber corners so they stay put. I've got an 11"x14" Farberware board which I'm finding that I use a lot because it stays put, and what I'm cutting stays put on the wood. But I needed something bigger that didn't weigh as much as my Teak cutting board. The Teak was a mistake. It's a beautiful board, but I never use it because it's so heavy and awkward to clean.

Peeling the back off my phone. You're supposed to heat it first to soften the adhesive, but seeing as the swelled battery had already separated the cover from the case to about 3/4 of the way around, I just pried the remaining part loose with a tool from my PC repair kit. The battery is nice and puffy. I'll work on the replacement tomorrow. I see two difficulties ahead. Prying the battery loose, as it is secured with adhesive as well. And removing the shredded strips of adhesive that remain prior to putting on new adhesive strips. The goo is not very cooperative.
