What's everyone up to right now?

Walking around old town Vilnius, sightseeing and shopping. Our walk took us through the former WW2 Jewish ghettos.

The Nazis were particularly brutal here - the people in the "small ghetto" (est. 9000-11000) were all simply taken out to the forest outside of town and shot in October 1941. Most of the 30000 in the large ghetto (who were "economically useful" as slaves) experienced the same fate in 1943. The 2000 or so remaining were killed as the Red Army approached in 1944.

Well, I’ve been on something of an odyssey for the last 10 years, I was able to figure out a lot of things I hadn’t really thought about before things got bad, which led to many interesting experiences, and some aspects of my life definitely improved, but it’s a double-edged sword because those aspects of my life wouldn’t have needed to change at all, if reality hadn’t forced me into a life of struggle, I mean of course it’s techincally a good thing that I was strong enough to be able to fight my way out of that Hell, but this new way of seeing things, that I’ve developed as an outcome of fighting for 10 years, isn’t as different from Hell as I would’ve hoped….if this is Heaven, I will accept it, for now, but surely things could be better….unfortunately, nothing will get better, because everything has already been made absolutely perfect, like pressure washing a beautiful, fancy car. Squeaky clean. All the time. No more wasted food.

Had to deal with an issue with the wireless mouse I connected to my laptop: namely, it wouldn't work. Nothing I could do with it would make the cursor budge even a pixel's width. Realising that I usually have better luck with wired mice, I tried to find one. The one I ordered will come tomorrow. But wanting something to tide me over until tomorrow, I did what I could to find one in a brick and mortar store. Eventually, I found one for $10 that looked like a Tron car. So far, at least it's working. But since it's got a lot of useless buttons, I may need to take some time to get used to it, especially these backwards and forwards buttons on the side.

The phone case I ordered was delayed because it was sold outside of the country.

Decided to cancel the order and search again.

Eleven pages worth of phone cases, only three of all the ones I clicked on were sold in country. Finally found one that appeals to me on the final click of the last page.

I didn't sleep last night. That's a bit disconcerting. Browsing the Amazon Prime Day deals. Nothing particularly good. Which is nice. That means I don't have to decide.

Flew a red-eye from Amsterdam to Mexico City last night, tomorrow I fly back to Portland.
