I don't think so. I think the Chefs are overachieving and they won't be able to sustain it. They remind me a lot of the 2003 team, which started 9-0 and was one and done in the playoffs.

On another note, there's an interesting article on SI about the Cowboys and their dedication to mediocrity.
  • The Cowboys have been 8-8 the last two seasons and are 4-4 now. They have been 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, and 4-4 this year..
  • In 2012, they were 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 5-5, 6-6 and 8-8.
  • In 2011, they were 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4 and 8-8.
  • Since 1997, they are 132-132, with seven winning, six losing and three .500 seasons.

The Dallas Cowboys: Meh!

Oh, I agree that's a very likely outcome. The "wild card" comment was for luckie's benefit and aggravation.

However, it's also possible that Chiefs could be overachieving now, and still win the AFC West - their remaining schedule seems more forgiving than Denver's (not to say it will be easy - both teams have their toughest games yet to come). What will ultimately make the difference is what happens when they play each other - if there is a series sweep, little else will matter either way.

KC hasn't beaten a team that currently has a winning record, and... now that I look at it, neither have the Broncos. It's entirely possible that *both* are overperforming.

In any case, it's pretty Captain Obvious that one or the other is going to be a wild card, unless something completely unexpected happens - like the Raiders or Chargers start winning, and monkeys fly out of my butt. Big Grin

They are average, but let's go ahead dispel any notion that regular season record means anything in the playoffs. In the post season, everybody resets to 0-0. Any team with a great record can get caught sleeping and have their pants pulled down in the Super Bowl. Eh, New England fans?

Absolutely right. It doesn't matter (except for home field advantage). What does matter is who shows up to the playoffs ready to get it on, who is healthy, who's got a better read on the opposition, who is running good at the right time.

That wasn't the question under consideration, however. Big Grin

Still fun to the cowchips get egg on their face, especially with a last second Homer Simpson loss.

You're right, it doesn't mean anything. If it did, the Cowboys would be 3-4 or 4-3 in the playoffs since their last Super Bowl fluke of a win instead of 1-6. :p

Whoa! Let us not judge from just one failed sample. Confirmation bias can lead us to trouble. And...State present your argument that makes said Super Bowl win a fluke, please.
