I think the cross SHOULD be displayed.
It is the clearest example of what religion is capable of - terror.
The plaque beneath the cross should read...

I would agree that it would be a dick move if all religions of all the victims were being represented, but putting up just a cross is disrespectful to those that lost their lives and were not Christian.

Yeah it's a total dick move to protect Constitutional rights.

They rightfully point out the nuts in Islam but but are too stupid to see that they are doing the same thing. And the only thing stopping them from going to the same scale of violence is our secular government.
Christian, "Islam is a violent religion"
Atheist, "Can we have either inclusive memorials or better yet neutral ones?"
Christian, "I'll defend my god to the death, so no, shut the fuck up or I will beat you up".
Both are blood cults, as Hitchens rightfull calls all of them "the parties of God".
They both look like gang members following their bully of a god. One is simply kept on more of a leash than the other.

I thought the memorial was for the first-responders who found inspiration from the cross-shaped debris or who died in their service. The cross at ground zero may have been specific to Christianity but it was also part of the history of the site and an important image (like the falling man) from those events.

The attempts to paint Jesus as all kind, are negated by the fact that he is also(as written in that vile book) the same as God, whom in the OT and the end of the book is still a violent prick who selfishly wants you to kiss his ass and kill for him, because he is too much of a pussy to do his own dirty work.
And even in the NT for every quote you can find that says "be kind and do good", you can even find Jesus telling his followers to disown their own family members if they don't kiss his ass".
What exactly is a "dick move"? Lying in the first place that the "cross" was perfect", which it was not, it was cut to size after the fact. Secondly why should Christianity get an especially bigger icon than any others?
Squatting with your torture device symbol, is dickish even without discussing law, it is not called the "Christian Trade Center". So I think Christians were being presumptive dicks gang tagging a tragic event with the biggest sectarian gang symbol, when the reality is that over 80 nationalities and ALL the world's major religions had dead that day. Which is why they were called "The WORLD Trade Center".
You are right, we are complete dicks for considering others.

What about the first responders that saw nothing but a random piece of steel left in the shape of a cross? By choosing a symbol with religious implications, regardless of the fact that it was an actual piece of the building, you are tying your religion to a tragedy while simultaneously denying the existence of the other religions and the fact that people of various different beliefs suffered and died on that day. You can always remember that cross and Christians can choose to glorify its signicance, but turning it into a government sanctioned memorial is publically declaring that you do not care about the beliefs and memories of the victims that were not Christian.
While you may see it as honoring the memories of the people that died, it is, in fact, disprespecting the memories of many of them.

People sure like to stand behind freedom of speech until someone says something they don't like.
