Okay sir, I shall start a new thread on prophecy later tonight Wink Oh and Aeonian, just a heads up. I always wanted some clarification on that seeing as how the catfish couldn't seem to spit it out, like ever.
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

1. I assumed that knowing the biblical languages would give me greater certainty that I would grasp the 'intended' meaning of the given texts. Did it? On the whole.... not really. The interpretive challenges and ambiguity still remained.

2. There are far too many reasons to list in this introductory thread.

3. I was never part of a church or denomination. My parents were atheists who let me find my own path. Long story short, the only denomination I can say I identified with was Universalism - even though I was never an actual member.

It's always good to have people who've studied the bible on board (it leaves far less wiggle-room for the resident theists) although be prepared: you will get some people poking fun at you for having studied it in the first place!
