What has AtheistForums.org meant to you?

I started coming here because I enjoy the opportunity to find out what I think about things. I was a philosophy major but I honestly don't feel like there is any question out there that requires my engagement. So unless it comes up in conversation, I prefer not to think about it. This gives me a place to play at philosophy a little.

But then I've come to appreciate loads of folks who hang out here and I still keep up a with a few who no longer do. I must confess I'm deeply ambivalent about investing so much in cyber friends but there are people here who I am genuinely fond of and care about. Every now and again I'll take a break but I'll always be back.

Oh, and then there is the saucy talk. I have one colleague at work who gives as good as she gets from me. But you just can't freely engage in ribald talk in the work place anymore. So thank you ladies for indulging an old perv.

Anytime sweetheart. Wishing you were my maths lecturer when I was going through TAFE (your college I think) would have made maths fun and interesting

My personal opinion is.....
This site has some of the smartest people in their field that a forum like this can attract.
The sense of community which Tiberius has fosted since day one is to his and the forum members credit.
People on this site really do care (though the batshit crazy theists care only for their own world view.)
There are many on this site that I feel protective of and would count as friends.
Finally, you are all so funny, witty and damn clever! How could I not admire you all?

I think you would have found me to be fair, but of course there would have to be discipline. Cool Shades

I have been an administrator on one forum and a moderator on two others, and the moderation and administration teams here seem top-notch. There's no apparent favoritism. People don't ever get banned unless they really deserve it. There is a lot of transparency. It seems as though there's a lot of cohesion. Tiberius is an active participant and actually takes care of the place, and I know from experience that it makes a huge difference when the operator of the forum is actually a part of the forum and actually doing administrative stuff... and when they aren't.

Nope, you would have made the subject funny and relevant ...what better way to learn?

The lecturers I did end up with made the subject tedious, bland and so removed from the Lab (was training for pathology) that I found it a struggle.

Funny pathology? That's a bit difficult, yeah? Maybe necrophiliac jokes and eating a limburger cheese sandwich lustily near cadavers, but otherwise? May as well be accounting.

Oh I had some great lecturers in Histology, Radiology, Chemistry and Biology. They made the subject fun and interesting. Accounting is rather dull but then, when I did business I got luck there, really liked my lecturer she was also funny.

I had history teachers who made history exciting and interesting. I wish I could have said the same for math and science.

Geez, all my profs were bumps on the log, or world class pricks.

I've dropped out three times now. Starting to think it's me...

I am the last person to point out spelling mistakes but I had a hilarious image of Ivy sanding people.
Taking off their rough edges I would assume.
