RE: Fisticuffs
Does fighting during abuse count?

Otherwise I've only slapped or backhanded people. They deserved it.

No, it shouldn't.

I would be afraid of fighting with you. You're badass.

My mother and I have gotten into a few arguments that resulted in either me or her being hit in the knee or something stupid. As well, I've had to push over people who have encroached on my personal space so much that they have almost caused me to trip or nearly trip. And all in the name of assistance I never asked for.

But usually said pushing over doesn't even result in their falling. I'm somewhere between Dad's Pissed and The Wrestler.

I don't much like fighting. On the other hand, when the situation gets hot, I'm way more likely than my boyfriend to break a bottle and jump into the fray. Which is good, because he makes more money than me and would be able to bail me out.

Most of the time I just like shaming people into shutting the fuck up. Hence the backhand.

Other than kid stuff, I've never started a fight. I have found it necessary to use violence in self-defense and to defend others. I'd rather that it wasn't necessary.

I've never been in a serious fight, nor is it in my nature to provoke one. I've been in some heated arguments, which shouldn't surprise anybody here.

I don't remember ever punching or hitting anyone. Maybe just a little pushing and shoving towards my younger brothers when I was smaller.

I don't even raise my voice at anyone. When I get angry, people can understand that by the speed and the tone of my voice, and the expression in my face, but I don't feel like shouting at them let alone raise my hand against them.

I used to ignore or walk away when I saw fights in schools ... my high school had a lot of nasty and violent kids there, in fact.

So yeah, now you go figure out if all the above 'coincides' with my respective beliefs or anything. Tongue

(Correlation doesn't necessarily imply causation, by the way).

I have started 3 fights, and defended myself in 2-3, depending on how you look at it.

The most bullshit one is when I was on my way to a bar to see a friend's band play, and about a block from the bar, a frat-boy type grabbed me and squeezed my breast, out of nowhere, on the street. He then smirked at me, and I fucking punched him. It was a lucky punch that hit him in the throat, and he went down. As luck would have it, a cop turned the corner just in time to see me punch him. It was good, because the asshole had 3 friends with him who were about ready to kill me, but bad, because the cop (a woman!) immediately handcuffed me.

I did not end up getting arrested, but I was shocked at how aggressive this female cop was with me after I told her what happened. She also refused to breathalyze me after accusing me of public intoxication (I was 100% sober). A few other cops arrived, heard me demanding to be breathalyzed and accusing the tit-grabber of, well, tit-grabbing, and let me go.

STILL pisses me off, and it was 10 years ago.

Do you think he thought they were so fantastic it'd be worth getting punched?
