That's my point, just because something was written on stone doesn't mean we will find it today.

The WIN/Gallup End of Year Survey 2013 found the US was perceived to be the greatest threat to world peace by a huge margin, with 24% of respondents fearful of the US followed by: 8% for Pakistan, and 6% for China. This was followed by 5% each for: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, North Korea. -LINK "That's disgusting. There were clean athletes out there that have had their whole careers ruined by people like Lance Armstrong who just bended thoughts to fit their circumstances. He didn't look up cheating because he wanted to stop, he wanted to justify what he was doing and to keep that continuing on." - Nicole Cooke
To be fair... I started that story with something more durable than stone...

An example of writing on titanium dated back 3k years would be far more impressive than anything written on stone... given that we have records of such writings on stone by people... Just saying that your god is a slouch and relies way too much on people to do its job. Probably more like 140 AD.

Ahh the ancient Jews, they were so dutiful in preserving the items touched and used DIRECTLY by their god. Tell me, if you "received" tablets (even replacements) or had a box that "housed" the glory of your tribes god, would you ever lose it? I think it would be handed down to the succeeding generations of believers with fanatical attention to it's preservation. After all, it is the very proof of your sky-daddies existence. Look at the early, persecuted Xians, even they managed to save some things while in the capital of the empire that was trying to exterminate them. The absence of evidence may not be evidence of absence, but common sense dictates that if the Essenes were able hide manuscripts to save them, then the priests were perfectly capable of hiding those items touched by Yahweh. The Masoretic Text was preserved by using private copies that Rabbi's had. Once it had been written, it became the standard text - ie Rabbi's could view it to compare it to their copies and make corrections - just as had been the case with the ancient Temple Scrolls.

Or was it a fictional creation of later writers? You are very gullible, Danny.
Again, Min, I don't think any serious historian believes that either the first or the second temples were "legend". If you think so, why not provide your sources?
