RE: Nelson Mandela and historical revisionism.
Hi I and I,

I think what people are trying to say is that we don't necessarily think you are wrong it's just that we don't like you.

Not me.

I'll admit, I think he's probably wrong, but I'm more than willing to hear him out. The worst that will happen is I'll find out he's crazy. Best case scenario, I learn something.

The ANC which Mandela was a member and face of was never a non violent organization. The ANC rightly so used violence to defend their people from brutal capitalist racist apartheid system. The capitalist state ran media doesn't want their wage slaves to see that violence against their oppressors would work in liberating them, therefore we have the famous historical revisionist capitalist propaganda known as "non violent resistance".

That's a valid question. Might also ask how we quantify what is and isn't a capitalist nation. I mean, the only non-capitalist nation in recent history has been the USSR and Joe Stalin made damn sure they qualify as violent and oppressive.

Aftar that, we have third world nations who are too poor to be players on the global market scale. I'd be more than willing to bet the people there are killing each other an aweful lot when they get the chance, but they just don't have the power to make a big name of themselves with it. And even then, you depending on how you qualify "capitalist," those places would qualify as capitalist, anyway.

Millions of people die every year as a direct result of the capitalist economic system.

Again, how do you define the capitalistic system? I mean, since damn near every significantly sized culture on the face of the earth is capitalist, saying capitailst cultures is about as useful as saying that millions of people die every year at the hands of air breathers.

Might also mention, if we're going to compare capitalism to non-capitalism, the biggest examples of not-capitalist would be places like North Korea, USSR, China, Cuba and other communist nations. I'm forced to say, if your claim is that capitalism is more peaceful than not-capitalism, you're goin to need better examples than that.

Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Haiti, most African nations are horrible places to live solely because of capitalism and it's side pet beliefs like religion.

North Korea is poor because of sanctions. Forcibly starving a nation then blaming that nation for it is quite stupid but is a common thing among capitalists. Afghanistan was a modern industrial and rich country when it was communist. You can google pictures of Afghanistan in the 60s. The freedom loving capitalists had different plans for the afghans...

The Soviet Union was comprised of many countries that became poorer and life expectancy lowered after capitalists took over.

You may now conveniently not address anything I just posted and continue with the "communism is bad" routine.

Again, I ask HOW was capitalism to blame for the problemsof Afghanistan, Haiti, Saudi Arabia, ect. Unless you can explain that, I'm just going to dismiss you as another pathetic hipster activist who wants to automatically hate everything that's mainstream.

They always struck me as being a poor nation because their psychotic leaders are using nearly their entire national budget to support their military. That isn't sanctions.

Ok, when did these vague people you describe as "capitalists" take over? I can't tell you why your statement is stupid unless I understand what you're talking about.

But, you still haven't addressed my question: what do you define as capitalism and what would be a system other than capitalism that's worked effectively?

I'm assuming that you are referring to Khrushchev. Khrushchev was not a capitalist & he greatly improved the Soviet economy. He was the best damn thing to happen to the CCCP since Lenin! Certainly better than Stalin, who killed almost as many people as Hitler.

Do you seriously not know that starting in 1989 and throughout the 90s the former soviet economies were transitioning to a capitalist economy?

You seriously do not know of this????

And your comment about North Korea being poor because it spends money on military begs the question..... How much do they spend on their military? How do you know such info? You don't know, you are just scrambling for pat answers that you learned from capitalist societies. If you don't believe the North Korean sanctions have an affect then... You seem to believe the very odd belief that the sanctions have no affect and are just a performance piece that the west does just for the hell of it.

Nope, my post had nothing to do with Khrushchev.
