What I am looking for is a forum where people actually discuss atheism and religion in an intelligent, respectful way. I see precious little of that here. The threads regarding religion that I've sampled quickly degenerate into senseless name-calling and posts that reveal a staggering lack of scientific literacy and consideration for people with differing views.
The forum rules state that this site is for friendly discussion and debate, and that flaming is discouraged. Those ideals do not seem to be upheld in practice. I don't expect the rules to be followed to the letter in every post, but from what I've seen go unchallenged I suggest the rules here should be changed to better reflect the culture of the forum.
No one is forcing me to be here, and my stay may be brief. If what I've seen so far is what members here want to do, that's ok. I'm just curious if anyone here knows of a site where I might find what I'm looking for. This might help:

That's a disingenuous abridged version of the events.
That's why I said summary. Sure there were more faults on both sides, but that's what basically happened.

By the looks of it he has a account here going by upside down dog. He doesn't post much though.

C'mon kids, let bygones be bygones. What people have done on other forums is usually irrelevant here. If you want to continue the discussion of sockpuppets and reasons for banning in this manner, take it up in R'lyeh

Do you believe card carrying Christians
- frequent atheist web sites solely for stimulating philosophical discussion; that proselytising atheists - who they publicly condemn as “sinful,” “evil,” and the lowest form of life - is the furthest thing from their mind?
- are quite open to atheistic ideas and friendships?
- would urge their children to go to an atheist web site to seek alternate ideas to Christianity?
- regard Christ's, and their Bible's bidding to kill atheists, and other sickeningly despicable commands, as not only not applicable to them but absolutely absurd?
- treat the Bible as a sort of philosophical smorgasbord where spiritually speculative, open-minded people, like themselves, can browse for totally elective concepts to try out in their free-thinking lifestyle?
- in a disagreement between an atheist and a Christian member of this forum, would not favour the God botherer - if there was a covert way they could do so - if they were the moderator?
If you answered “yes” to any one of these questions you are a lotus eating atheist. If you answered “yes” to more, or all of them, you have totally lost it and moved into one of the “castles in the air” that lunatics build!

Is it possible that sock-puppetry was the technical reason for the ban but the real reason was that he's a dick?
