Changeable skins on the forums
October 24, 2015 at 8:39 pm
In my opinion I think a skin for this forum(as in what's around the forum, like the background) should be made, and it should be blank, or something like that.
Here's why:
A younger person, or mayber just a person living with their parents, might not want to be seen on something called "Atheist Forums". If your parent walks over and looks at them on the computer, it says "Atheist Forums" in multiple places, and big large letters at the top. I think that to accommodate for new Atheists, younger ones, who want a place to speak freely, it's imperative to give them a way to in a sense "conceal" the forums for them, so they don't have to worry about this.
Even though my parents are accepting of my Atheism, they are both Christians, and personally I really hate when my Dad will walk in the room and see in giant bold letters "Atheist Forums". There needs to be a way to browse the forums without being worried of others stopping by and spying on what you're doing, and in some cases, creating conflict that wasn't necessary. Young, new, Free-thinkers and Atheists simply want a place to share their thoughts. They should be allowed to share their thoughts freely, without having to worry about something like this.
Which is better:
To die with ignorance, or to live with intelligence?
Truth doesn't accommodate to personal opinions.
The choice is yours.

On the user profile these is a setting you can enable called 'stealth mode' that will change 'Atheist Forums' to 'PC Forums'. At least, that is what it allegedly does. I'm pretty sure it doesn't actually work, and hasn't for quite some time.

It's still an issue. My parents don't really care, and even i'm uncomfortable when they see me on here. I can only imagine what someone who's parents do really care would feel like.

Why does it no longer work? I don't need it myself. But were I 40 years younger and living at home. . . Or living in the Middle East.

You can switch to mobile mode, that gets rid of most of the styling (alongside half of the UI).
And depending on your browser you can use addons (like web-develop in FF) or a greasemonkey script to get rid of the site name completely.
Besides, if it's at least a teen, they should be proficient at hiding certain windows already.

Then it's time to look for a sacrifice for the prayer session to all-powerful Tiberius

We're gonna need a virgin.
Shit.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

I nominate OP.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great
