The SteamBox is not a console.
The hardware is off the shelf compatible, the schematics are open and the OS is not locked down.
It has less in common with every other console that has been produced for the last 10 years
The SteamBox is a ploy to increase dependency and market share of the Steam service.
None of the other "console" manufacturers sell their respective Services architecture as their strength - they sell the hardware itself as the exclusive platform.
