What, you have over 8 years or college? You think you are more qualified then a vet, yet I doubt you know what makes a carnivore a carnivore or a herbivore a herbivore.

ROFLOL You talk like a christian, are you a poe or just being a troll?
Thinking
Yep, more than 8. Anyway, I am just not inclined to give you my CV on the internet. Either argue against the points I have raised, or concede the point. Don't just try to make ad hominem attacks, it just makes you look like a moron

ROFLOL

That was an ironically used emoticon use by the way, if you cant express your argument without resorting to stupid animated icons you really are a idiot.
Devil
Additionally, how does one talk like a Christian? Hmm, lets see what augments meat eaters have used...

1. Appeals to authority ... check
2. Appeals to nature ... Check
3. Appeals to the people... Yep
4. Ad hominem... a couple of times

Need I spell out the obvious?

Address the argument!

1. Animals are conscious and can suffer
2. Causing suffering is wrong
3. Eating meat causes animals to suffer

Therefore, eating meat is wrong. All we have had so far is a poor attempt to argue that animals are not conscious and an appeal to nature. Both of which I have shown to be nonsense. Try harder

We can break down proteins. But plant protein is incomplete, that's why you have to plan very carefully to get all the required amino acids to rebuild all the proteins that you need - and part of that of course is nuts

There is no 'of course' Nuts are one source-there are others. The grain quinoa contains all 8 fist class proteins and ,of course' isn't a nut.

It is always easier to throw out bullshit than to refute them in detail. It is the contingent upon those who makes the argument to prove the argument, not those who question the argument to refute it in detail.

(January 21, 2014 at 11:32 am)jg2014 Wrote: 1. Appeals to authority ... check

And you don't?

In fact it is perfectly valid if the authority is indeed authoritative. Let's see you show validate Fermat's theorem without either appeal to, or plagarizing from, authority. The latter amount to the same thing as former because it is unlikely you would understand what you plagarize.

(January 21, 2014 at 11:32 am)jg2014 Wrote: 2. Appeals to nature ... Check

When insufficient evidence exists to make a thorough and fundamental analysis of whether something is necessary, then examining suggestive precedent and analogues is one workable and better alternative to paralysis.

And you don't? In fact not only do you do it, you do it duplicitiously.

(January 21, 2014 at 11:32 am)jg2014 Wrote: 4. Ad hominem... a couple of times

When you present no argument to attack, yet make yourself so annoying, you get what you deserve.

Let's see, you won't change your mind, and your won't change the topic. I think it is pretty obvious what you are.

You have no argument. All you do is throw assertions followed by the a wallow in the muddy conceit of your own self-righteousness.

1. Not necessarily true.
2. Mere assertion (so is that a sordid attempt to appeal to yourself as authority?)
3. Not necessarily true

Therefore, fuck off.

Ok everyone stop NOW! This has just turned into a giant pissing contest. Lets just agree that neither side is going to change the opinion of the other and leave it at that. Lets take a few deep breaths, count slowly to 10 and turn and walk away.

so, animals who eat other animals out of instinct to feed themselves and their offspring are causing other animals to suffer and that's wrong? Or does this only apply to humans?

hmmm, as I said at the beginning, I think atheists and vegans hold much in common including having to challenge social norms and having to find sources of ethics not based on appeals to nature. It is sad that the debate ended with someone writing "fuck off", but hey maybe I should not have suggested you were being stupid. Sorry about that.

Typical Angel So what makes a carnivore a carnivore and herbivore a herbivore?

Ok then...
1. Animals are conscious, and can suffer. They suffer more in the wild. They get chased, injured, strangled, starved, dehydrated and killed or die a slow/long death(days even). You are confused about nature being a happy place. Domesticated animals get food and water, shelter, and a place to grow with little worry of predators.

2.There is a difference from killing for food and abuse. If you are going to compare yourself to an animal then have fun out running a lion. Lions don't see eating a gazelle is wrong. They claw it, injure it, bite its neck, strangle it, paralyze it and eat it. They don't feel guilty about it, it is in their nature to eat meat.

3. As stated in 1 and 2 eating can cause suffering. Suffering is a fact of life. No matter what you do, you can't prevent that gazelle from suffering without causing another animal to suffer.

Therefore your logic is flawed. You are blind to what has been presented to you.
