I too was SO happy when Rita was written out of the show.

RE: Dexter
I liked the whole show but I wasn't crazy about it. It seemed like an interesting premise but it was produced more in the style of TV shows like Monk or Psych which seemed sort of off to me.
My ignore list

John Lithgow was insanely awesome. No one topped him.

I do think a huge premise of the show is making want to route for dexter. You're morally torn in turn, know what he's doing is wrong. The show presents to you the other side of the coin, and I think you end up really finding yourself each episode concerned for Dexter. Rita was just a social beard for him. Her ultimate point from episode one was to get killed by one of Dexter's foes.

Fair enough. I too kinda wanted to smack Dexter for continually making idiotic choices regarding Lithgow's character, but Rita just seem about as bright as a bag of hair to me. She always came across as sort of 'medicated' ... always this annoying little mouse who needed someone else to stand her up and coddle her every little move. With her gone, it was like a massive breath of fresh air blew back into the show.

I totally agree with you, but when they came right out of the gate with Lumen, that was a highly disappointing duo. I think they got it right with Hannah. She was truly evil from the start, while Lumen tried to become what Dexter was the have a successful relationship with him.

I'm glad Lila was only a one seasoner. I wanted to hit that woman with a bus from get go.

I think we all appreciated the sex scenes that Hannah offered the season as well.

I've never seen that ComicCon panel. I'll have to watch that sometime.

Perhaps. I didn't continue watching beyond that point, so all I've got is a sentiment of general dissatisfaction from various people's forum posts.

Dexter season 1 was an amazing character, well written. After that... a supposedly sociopathic character was continuously written to be more and more emotional. I got fed up with him around halfway through the second season. Tongue

The common sex scenes were usually more of a turn-off for me. Only one I reacted positively with was Rita, but common ground will do that to a person.

I was thinking of a far more intricate death, but I do that.
