Well, christianity is a big part of my community, and I'm quite familiar with it. Maybe I am culturally christian, even though I don't worship Jesus.

Christianity promoted a separation from church and state from the very beginning so in a sense it is even if it isn't.

And where exactly did this happen? I know Jesus said render unto Ceaser what is Ceaser's, but that was taxes. Why would he want a seperation of church and state?

Separation of Church and State? Do you mean the same Church that Jesus didn't care to create because he told his disciples to expect the world to end and the coming of God's Kingdom within their own lifetimes?

Almost by their nature, no religion can promote a separation of church and state. Practitioners of priestcraft, making their living off duping the credulous, will always be on the lookout to further their power and wealth.
The only time a religion will advocate such a separation is when they are in the minority faith and fear the larger church will use government power as a means of stamping out their competition. When church and state are wed, only one religion gets to be top dog and the rest end up in the same boat with us heathens. However, this alliance of convenience should be recognized for what it is, a temporary state that the minority church will quickly end should it ever become the majority faith.

Yes, the people are.
Our government is not. At least not at the Federal level. It was a different story at the State and local levels though. Some States Constitutions went so far as to require that candidates seeking political office had to believe in God and be a Protestant Christian. Like these for example...
Quote:Delaware; Article 22 (1776) "Every person who shall be chosen a member of either house, or appointed to any office or place of trust...shall...also make and subscribe the following declaration, to whit:
'I,_____, do profess faith in God the Father, and in Jesus Christ His only Son, and in the Holy Ghost, one God, blessed for evermore; and I do acknowledge the holy scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be given by divine inspiration'"
Georgia; Article VI (1777) "The representatives shall be chosen out of the residents in each county,...and they shall be of the Protestant religion..."
Massachusetts; First Part, Article II (1780) "The governor shall be chosen annually; and no person shall be eligible to this office, unless...he shall declare himself to be of the Christian religion."
Massachusetts; Chapter VI, Article I (1780) "[All persons elected to State office or to the Legislature must] make and subscribe the following declaration, viz.
'I,_____, do declare, that I believe the Christian religion, and have firm persuasion of its truth...'"

There were also many local laws "Blue Laws" that enforced "Sabbath Keeping", some of which remain to this day....

Right, but the federal level is what matters when determining whether or not this is a Christian nation.
Besides, some states having Christianity woven into their laws is not indicative of a Christian nation, anyways. It just shows that a certain collection of people saw fit to base their local laws on their beliefs.
