Expanding on my rubbish comment, clearly everyone was not aware of what an evil man had been elected. Had those who were caught been aware of what was happening, they would have fled and not been caught. As it was, too many of them were caught because they were quite unaware of what was happening.

Oh, people did know very well what kind of a man they elected. He was rather open about all his views regarding jews, communists and dissidents, and the people loved him for it.
And that's fine with me though, if Hitler was a bit more patient with his moves, he could have transformed Germany into a state that everyone would look up to.
And well, I think that Nazi Germany still stands as an epitome of what a well-motivated and nationally conscious people can do.
He transformed the war torn Germany into a superstate, that flourished in industry, science and the arts.
They were also in command of the world's strongest army, it took the combined efforts of three countries to bring it down.
And looking at that, I think that Nazi Germany should be viewed as in a positive, rather than a negative light.

I've only ever loved one girl, & she was in no way German. I would never love a German.

One doesn't have to love Germans. I don't love Germans. But I do respect Germans. They are the only people on earth that I deem to be "equals", besides the Japanese.

English should not be counted amongst the Germanic race, in my opinion, disregarding their language, which is a bastardized version of Anglo-Saxon.
